I am sorry to let you know that Guy Croft passed away this morning after a long struggle with Cancer. His brilliant engineering, engaging conversation and willingness to help will be sadly missed by people all over the world.

RIP Guy

That's a great loss to the twin cam community.

His style was very much his own but his knowledge was beyond dispute.

I presume in due course his wife will wind up the business  - or perhaps keep it going in a different way.

All very sad, met him just the once and was obviously passionate about his work. He will be missed.

Very sad to hear this; I saw it on my FB feed but wanted to confirm it. Bad news travels fast... I've met Guy a few times and have always found him to be exceptionally helpful and a bottomless well of knowledge, which (thankfully) he was happy to disseminate via word of mouth and his peerless books on Fiat/Lancia twin cam engines. A great loss of the undoubted expert in his field. RIP Guy and thanks.

I got to know Guy so well during our recent work together and the thrashing he gave my completed Beta around his Lincoln Industrial Estate will be forever etched on my mind. He was a great man and will be missed enormously.  RIP my dear chap.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Guy just the once, his enthusiasm and passion for the Lampredi was a pleasure to be around. As many of us have experienced Guy was so happy to educate and pass on all he knew, thank god he wrote it all down!!!

Not a bad legacy that will serve many, for many years to come!

I hope he is enjoying sharing notes up there with all the greats ,  Cheers Guy Smiley

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Guy's recent passing. He was far too young to leave this world. I was fortunate that he built an engine for me. His legacy will live on in the many engines he rebuilt and tuned. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work was superb. He was generous with his time and knowledge.

I believe his funeral was yesterday mon 7th Dec 2020 at Cardington in Bedfordshire. RIP.

This post is primarily for Eric, as he has been assisting Gloria (Guy's widow) in sorting out Guy's affairs and in particular his spares and any work in progress. As a result of my discussions with Guy he sent me a couple of his 'how to' datasheets, which were exceptionally helpful. Would it be possible to establish what the full list of these 'how to' articles are, and possibly make them available in the documentation section of the forum (obviously, with Gloria's approval).

It would be a great shame if these pearls of wisdom were to be lost to the Beta community at large.

Hi Graham

That is a good idea, but you need to ask Gloria directly because I am not helping Gloria on an ongoing basis. We did work hard to protect Guy's Data and to get it backed up multiple ways whilst building up a high spec PC with the latest version of Windows 10, anti virus and MS Office. This data sits with Gloria, but it is protected from loss as is GC's correspondence history.

I was interested to see that Guy Croft's funeral was in Cardington as that's just up the road from me. Was he a Bedfordshire lad originally?

No he was from Liverpool and worked most recently in Lincoln. His wife Gloria is from Bedford with family close by. She wanted him close to her home.
