Hi all,
My recently aquired HPE Volumex needs a speedo cable as the end that fits into the speedo itself is damaged. Before I spend ages looking does anyone here have any ideas where I can get one in the UK? Is it the same part as, say, a Fiat 128 perhaps?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew.

Chris, ex Betacar may still have one if there isn't one available from Mark.

I bought a new one a couple of weeks ago from a member of the site, Paul (Watshot). He also had a second hand one - look up his member name and PM him.

Thanks guys but I've managed to repair mine. Only the plastic end that pushes into the back of the speedo itself was damaged so I used some Araldite to build it up and shaped it square with a blade. Works great!

My repair on the end of my speedo cable didn't last too long...  Cry
So, as per original question- are there any new cables anywhere? I can't find ANY ANYWHERE. I've searched the obvious international ebay sites and still drawn a blank.
Paul has now sold his spare second hand one. Does anyone else have a s/h one they'd be willing to part with?
I discovered that the Fiat 128 cable is, as I first thought last year, identical (give or take an inch) but it will only fit left-hand-drive Betas; it's too short to fit the rhd cars...

Spud,

How long is your cable?

I have a cable which has the screw fitting at both ends and it's 1107mm long. I can't remember what car it came off could be Delta or Beta.  I've checked the back of a S1 and it would fit that cant recall off the top of my head if S2 cars changed.  I seem to recall unscrewing mine when I had to change the clocks in mine.

I have pics if need be of the cable that I have. it's in great condition btw.

Stuart,
Fantastic detective work! I didn't know about that site. Thank you so much.

Matt,
My inner cable is approximately 1050mm long so to include the end fittings would probably be the same as yours. However! The cable on the later Betas doesn't have a screw on fitting at the rear of the clock- it's a push on fitting that clicks into place to prevent it being easily pulled off so unfortunately isn't the same as yours.  I haven't checked the gearbox end fitting yet.

I thought that may be the case as I recall a white plastic clip.......

But my old brain is muddled because recently I've had BMW and Peugeot clocks out and have been playing with those two makes!
