Hi.  Dosen't appear to be my year.  Does anyone have a coolant expansion tank for a '78 spyder?  Current one has started to leak under pressure.  Have tried a repair but unsuccessful.  Thanks  Ammy

Hi Graham.  It's the rectangle type.  Have found a curved one but would prefer not to have to carry out modifications. Fingers crossed ! ! !

Many Thanks,

sorry Alwyn.  X'g fingers didnt work this time.. Its the curved one. I know what you mean about the mod

I have same problem with the rectangle one. TRied various types of araldite, fernox and other putty type stuff but it will always blow through after a while

Thanks Graham,  I'll have to modify the curved one to fit. You're right,  nothing will bond to the tank material.  I thought I'd made an excellent job with glass fibre resin and fine matting but after a 5 mile run it just fell away.

I'll give it one more day and then start the mod.

Cheers,

Ammy, I will have a look at the expansion tank on my 1600 spyder that I have been using for parts when I get chance. Could you post a pic of the type you need?

Carl.

Hi Carl.  Fingers crossd again. Having difficulty sending photo, (It's my age)  There are only two tanks. One is rectangular , one is curved.    I'm after the rectangular one,  it's about 230mm  by 150mm.

Many Thanks,

Alwyn

It certainly looks the same shape, whether it's the same size you can tell.    It is possible to modify the curved one,  the difficulty is providing the lower support. If I have no success with a replacement I'll go ahead with the mod. and post it.
