I don't propose adding to historical threads just yet. I'm in touch with Quaife Engineering investigating their LSD options for the Beta. So far it's yes, they are available but it's a special order item, not an off the shelf solution. I've asked for a price (and am sat down waiting for the reply) but have asked them if the price is variable (down!) if they were to make a batch to order. I'm not proposing managing a group buy but rather a group enquiry where I'd forward contact details so they can request an order from each individual before they make a batch.

When I know more I'll post prices/availablity schedules here and see where it goes.

Experience with the Stratos replica fitting a Quaife ATB differntial is nothing but positive in terms of ease of installation and performance. I'm getting one for the Beta...

Quaife have contacted me, a group or batch order would bring down the price but the diff is expensive and listed as for a Montecarlo and there is a choice of 31 or 26 teeth on the output splines. I don't know enough about the Montecarlo's gearbox in comparison to the Beta but doesn't it have a long offside driveshaft that's bolted to a flange similar/same as the nearside? Is the output shaft on the Beta's offiside removable? Never tried to dismantle one!

More to follow.

Pricing, subject to confirmation that the Montecarlo diff is interchangeable with the Beta diff are as follows per Quaife:

"Further to your enquiry for this diff on messenger, pricing for QDH7K diffs would be as follows:

1 off: £5,000.00 each
2 off: £3,000.00 each
3 off: £2,200.00 each
4 off: £1,750.00 each
5 off: £1,350.00 each
Prices are plus VAT (if applicable)"

How much more of a discount we could negotiate if we had orders for 10 I haven't asked. Lets see where this goes for now.

If the possibility of using an Alfa 164 Q2 diff comes to nothing the I would consider buying one at £1620...

Hi Guy,

I have built both Monte and Beta Gearboxes and built VX bits into Monte casings. The output splines on the diff are the same. However the Beta output engine side has no thread for a nut to hold the needed flange on a Monte. With both output shafts threaded the beta idler that goes behind the block with still work with the slide on coupler.

You need to publicize this with the Monte Consortium or simply post on the Consortium FB page and tag Paul Courteney. They would have the design from when Geoff Ward was racing.
We tried Gripper plate LSDs but they are racing only kit in a Monte as I found out personally. My Gripper is built into a gearbox for my Beta Spyder build.

I would definitely be interested in a quaife diff if the price was right. It would be interesting to see what they can do for an order of 10.
