hi All,
I have a 2.0 beta and wanted to know if there fuel filter inline with carburettor had to be a specific size.
I replaced my fuel pump this weekend and can now see fuel in the filter (see attached picture) however there is only a bit in there and I am not sure it is reaching the carb as the car will not run. Runs ok on easy start.
The one I have is UFI 31 001 00 .
Any thoughts would be appreciate.
I am so close to getting it running now.

Hi Si

The filter looks OK and you will have followed the arrows for flow direction. Lack of fuel in there says pump problem or float camber needle issue. Disconnect the coil temporally and disconnect the fuel in hose from the carb and aim it into a large container (plastic fuel can). Then turn the engine over. You should see plenty of petrol flow in. If not you have an upstream blockage or tank vent issue assuming the pump is in good order. If you do it is carb off for a re-build including float chamber needle valve and float height setting.

Will give that a go.
Fuel pump is brand new purchased from Mark so should not be an issue there.
Will keep at it.

Hi Si,

Good luck! If it is upstream try with the filler cap loose. If that improves the situation looked for blocked vent pipes or a failed vent valve. If it makes no difference take the fuel level sender out and look carefully with a torch for rust and scale causing a blockage. Also check no pipes are trapped or bent over stopping flow. If it is crud in the tank it really is remove the tank and clean it out including blowing back through the pipes with a compressor to prove they are not blocked.

Note lots of tanks on cars long stored hide crud that blocks fuel flow. It is a common first run breakdown for Montecarlo owners!
