Hi All,
Will be looking to replace my mechanical fuel pump with another on my 2.0 spider with carb.
According to the haynes manual its a simple swap out.
Looking online apparently may not be as straight forward and some  accounts talk about needing the engine in top dead center before changing.
Are there any additional steps that I need to be aware of?
Thanks in advance
Si

Hi

Should be a simple swap, mine was. The arm on the pump simply pushes against a lobe on the idler shaft driven by the timing belt.

From memory there is more than one version of the pump where the outlet/inlet pipes are at slightly different angles, worth checking you are getting one which suits your layout. Mark has them in stock at a reasonable price.

Hi Si,

Be aware when buying some pumps are smaller and not designed for the 2000 i.e. they are 1300 1600 pumps. You can fit 2000 pumps to 1600 and 1300 but not good the other way round.

The first time I read your reply Eric I thought you'd got it wrong! The 2000ie has an an electric fuse pump but then I noticed the gap between 2000 and ie and realised the ie in this case meant for example! Grin Grin Grin
