It's a 2.5 hour drive from Calais on the A26, or 4+ hours if you choose
the back roads.

I've been looking for hotel options in Laon but haven't come up with anything yet.

There appears to be a travel company who organises the travel etc. I will get in touch and see what options we have etc.

If that gets a bit restrictive Peter, we can always self book crossings (Tesco vouchers still help) and share an AirBnB?  For those dates, there are plenty of 4-12 bedroom houses available depending on interest.

I like Chris's idea of the AirBnB, although a hotel would give us lots of meals and drinks.

Going through a travel company could restrict our options to be flexible.
It could also increase costs unnecessarily.

It looks to be a fairly simple registration process. I've easily printed the application form,
there's not much else to do except channel crossing and digs.

Seems like there's at least 4 interested so far, and I'm sure a few more will play.

Ok, life got in the way, but anyway looks like the official tour company is hotel only with a fair hike for single folk, so DIY looks to be the most sensible and Airbnb again looks promising.

I checked out the ferries and Eurotunnel. Euro tunnel are twice the ferry price, DFDS looks to be the cheapest at around £99 return. Looking at Airbnb various ones on offer, depends how many bedrooms we need.

I might be wrong, but I think the £99.00 option is for a car plus one adult one way?  Looked to me like the return woulds add another £110.00.

Hi to those who have expressed interest so far: Alex, Chris and Peter,

Option 'D' appears to suit us the most, I.E. it's the Saturday rally and the Sunday circuit for 135 euros.

It allows us to do all the outward travel on the Friday, and get back to Calais for a Sunday afternoon
return crossing.

Thoughts?

I have also now entered with option D and paid the E135.00 via Wise.com.

Peter and I are booked on Irish Ferries, via 'ferrysavers' departing Dover Fri 6th at 12.35,
arrive Calais 15.05.
Departure is Calais Sun 8th at 20.40, arrive Dover 21.10.
Total price £108 (each)     This is a special short-break fare.

Also both booked at Premeire Classe Laon for 2 nights, total price sharing a room about £124, via Booking.com.
This includes a continental breakfast.
This hotel is 10 mins from the city centre, although we don't yet know exactly where the meeting point is,
it can't be too much more than that. There is also a restaurant next door.

The drive from Calais to this hotel is 2hrs 25 mins according to Google using the toll route.

For the event I went for Option D too and paid €135 via PayPal- just wondering if we get a confirmation email from the organisers?

I'm staying in the same hotel as Nigel & Peter, (Premiere Classe Laon) but staying on for an extra couple of days to explore France a bit more.

I am also on the 1235 Irish Ferries crossing. So I'll see Nigel and Peter at the boarding lanes for the ferry. Perhaps we should arrange to meet beforehand to board together?

I emailed and they replied saying they received my forms
but indicated they were waiting for payment. This may well have been a translation issue
so I replied saying my payment shows up received on 28th Jan, i.e. same day.

I don't think it'll be a issue.
