1979 Coupe 2000

« on: April 26, 2024, 12:10:11 PM »

I am trying to locate some matching factory original pre-cut and stitched cloth seat covers for the 1979 Lancia Beta Coupe, (Series 2 FL I think is the correct designation). I have identified the (front?) seat base covers as part #82356641 in the correct colour and cloth pattern ("G30", assuming that is what G30 refers to).

I am also interested in cloth seat cover part #82356690 (L30) which I am hoping is for the front seat back or upright cloth upholstery panel but I don`t know for sure. Perhaps it might be for the rear seats which I assume are not identical panels to the front seats? Can anyone confirm the precise fitting location of this #82356690 cloth seat cover?

I am not sure what the "L" in "L30" as opposed to the "G" in "G30" refers to either but I am assured that the two cloth covers with L30 and G30 descriptions are identical fabric type and colour.

There are two head rest cloth cover listings as well both "G30": part #82356681 (Coupe?) and #82356630 (HPE?). Not sure whether these are for front or rear seats or both. I assume the front seat head rests would be the same for both Beta Coupe and HPE models. Not sure about rear seat head rests though. The HPE has the folding rear seat so it may have a different rear head rest.

Plus one other cloth seat cover part number #82344589 which has the "L30" designation and which may be the wrong cloth type and colour as it is supposedly for the later S2 FL2 version. Not sure whether this is front or rear cloth seat cover or seat back versus seat base cover.

Any assistance to clarify this uncertainty would be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated. The seller is less than helpful in this regard.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
In this era, two colours of interior trim were available, often dependant on
the exterior paint. Light blue and ivory were common. I guess the G and L may
designate this.
HPE and Coupe had identical front seats and headrests.
The Coupe rear headrests resemble the fronts but may well be slightly different.
As you said, the HPE had very different rears, being flat-topped and full width,
and they extended upwards, like the fronts. I think the coupe rears were fixed.

Your most likely source of replacement fabric is from scrapped cars. I doubt new ones
are easily available, although the Italians sometimes advertise new-old-stock stuff.
Fabric on front seats is not handed, so a good pax cover will fit a drivers side.

Maybe someone here has s/h seats they could strip for you. A photo of the existing colour will
help. There are several old rusty coupes around the uk. In any case, s/h would better match
your existing seats.

Consider also using the Facebook Beta groups. They have a slightly wider audience than here.

Sorry but I can't assist with part numbers.

Good luck with your search

Thanks for the seat specification clarification for the various models Nigel.

The specific part numbers to which I referred are available as factory original supplied NOS. Mind you listing something and actually finding it in the warehouse are not always the same thing. Just a question of whether they are the right panels for my needs. I only want front seat replacement panels if they are available. The greatest cloth seat cover wear on our car is on the drivers front seat upright or seat back, specifically the right vertical side bolster which gets brushed the most on entry and exit I guess.

Lancia Beta trim colours are listed here:

http://www.lancia-beta.de/grund/grund-re16-e.htm : all interior trim options for all series and all versions,

and here http://www.lancia-beta.de/grund/grund-re13-e.htm: all Series 2 FL trim versions only.

Our car has the grey (ograu in German) cloth trim in the two tone wavy pattern, described as a "velour" most clearly seen as a swatch in the second of the two listings.

This series of beta came with two different fabric types the more usual one in either grey, beige or blue but also a L pattern cloth the same as on Gammas (not sure if the colours off the top of my head). I'll try to remember to look that part number up later.

Neither of those part numbers are in the parts book, however they changed to microfiche part way through the series so the fiche is probably more reliable and more up to date. It's not so easy for me to check that ,the books are much easier, so before I go into the garage to have a look can you confirm the actual fabric colour and type that you want please? I've never seen those designations, for example 'G30', before.

Ah I see grey, I can try to have a look tomorrow

OK so the codes you mention are on the microfiche, G30  is  grey velour, L30 is fabric.
The L30 is shown as for special series so I suspect, but can't confirm, it's for the Coupe Laser and maybe other specials of which there are a few in Europe.
L30 and G30 are the same colour but different fabrics I think that the usual standard fabric is the G designation 30 simply means grey.

G30 seat back cover is 82356690

G30 seat base cover is 82356700

G30 headrest cover is 82356681

I can't 100% guarantee that I'm right about which fabric is which but I think this is right!

L12 and L14 are marked as for central Europe so are probably Zegna cloth, mainly sold in Germany.

Just to clarify, the three parts numbers you have quoted are the correct ones for a S2 FL Beta Coupe?

Can you also confirm what these seat cloth part numbers refer to in terms of model and position, (front or rear seat, back or base)? Both covers are available but are probably not what I need.

#82356641 in G30 (I think this is probably an HPE rear seat back cloth because there does not appear to be any side bolstering). It may be useful as a source of matching seat cover patching material though.

#82344589 in L30 (listed as an HPE FL2 cover)

Many thanks in anticipation Rossocorsa. No more seat cover part number requests after these two!

Front seats Beta coupe FL1, if you want any cloth try to find a scrap beta berlina with the same cloth as if I recall correctly the headlining matches a good source of fabric. Also this is probably the hardest wearing coupe fabric so in the UK where it doesn't rot due to sun degradation it keeps well. You may do well to search for used seats or covers over here. If you give me a few days I will photograph all the relevant seat cover pages for FL1 cars and post a link so you have all the information.

Sorry I haven't done this yet, my fiche reader isn't too good so I'm trying to get it a bit sharper. I won't forget and will do it eventually.
