This is for anyone who has taken the tilt mechanism off their front seats.

Where the mechanism tilts it is held together with a cross headed bolt, under the bolt is a countersunk solid washer. My question is is there a flat thick solid washer beneath that before the actual tilt mechanism? Behind the tilt mechanism is a plastic washer before the main seat (I think).

I am asking this question as cannot remember how they came apart…….. I did try to compare to the Spider seats, but they are subtly different which does not help.

Hi Peter,
As far as I recall there's nothing under the countersunk washer.

The heavy thick washers you refer may be the ones that go between the seat runners
and the floor. They give space for the carpet.

Hi Nigel

The thick washers for under the runners are much bigger, so not that. I had a good look and refit of the parts and concluded that I have no idea where these washers came from……. Maybe on the later Coupe seats I stripped.

The end result is that I am going with just the plastic washers on the inner side, then the tilt mechanism and finally the bolt with the countersunk washer.

Photo shows the bolt, countersunk washer, unknown thick washer and plastic washer.

Hi Peter

I do not know the answer here, but perhaps a look at the parts book exploded diagrams?

Hi Eric

Good suggestion and should have gone there. The spacer fits on the upper part of the seat and keeps the tilt mechanism away from squashing the moulding at the rear of the seat.
