I hope that cam belt survives the initial running.
Enjoy,

I thought the 1300 was a non interference engine, so limited issues?

Valid possibility, I'm not sure now.
Neil will know!

I thought all twin cams were interference. Even if the pistons don’t hit the valves, the valves have the possibility to hit one another due to the angle between them. Of course this depends on how the belt slips, snaps or shreds.
I have had a 2.0 ltr engine with a shredded timing belt escape damage. New belt and away she went.

All in all it’s best avoided.

Hi Ian

You may very well be correct, as you say best avoided to not test the theory….

The 1300 Coupe engine is basically the 1600 with a shorter stroke so not sure. There is the auxiliary shaft lobe to consider as well...

I quite enjoyed that. Almost a masterclass in how not to revive a long stood engine. Maybe check the spark and fuel before trying to fire it up and buy a load of bits....? Good starter motor though, not to mention the 20 year old plus cambelt.

The key shaft in mole grip brought back happy memories of YAJ. I had new keys cut and they worked on all the locks apart from the boot. I could only lock that with the original broken bit of key.

Hi Neil

Interestingly I had a couple of keys cut for the Spider and they work apart from the fuel filler lock which will only insert one way round oddly….
