Good evening.
Following the advice of my colleagues in the forum, I solved the problem with the steering rack damper in this way.
Original Stabilus damper for Audi B series 80 with mechanical rack for 60 levs, which is about 25 pounds, 70 millimeters long and an ear on both sides. Laser cut plate of 6 millimeters of ordinary steel. Curved by hand;) with the required shape. The longer length of the new damper is not a problem, it is taken from our rails as seen in the photos, and the power of the new damper I think is close to the original 800 Nm.
Here is how it turned out:

Hi

Good solution would you make the plate available to buy or the cutting details/drawing?

I think this would help some folk here

Also do you have a part nos for the damper?

I will ask the company that cut the plate for the laser file and I will try to upload it. Tomorrow I will take a picture of the new damper and the picture with the manufacturer's number will be uploaded here.

Hi

Thanks, that would be most useful.

I was lucky enough to buy two new old stock original dampers, but know they one of those parts which you cannot find and I remember Matt on here spending some time looking into replacements. This sounds like a good long term solution.

One issue I remember from Matt was the throw of the damper, how does the Audi one compare to the original one?

This is the Stabilus damper number.
The drawing, which is designed on autocat, promised to send it to me by e-mail tomorrow and I will upload it here.

Good day.
In the above post I have given a link to my mail
in which I save the drawing file for the board
which I used to mount the longer damper.
I hope I have been helpful to someone.
Tenyo.

Hi Tenyo

Thanks for that, you mention that you bent the plate, I am curious was this due to clearance problems or would a spacer do the same job and avoid the bending?

Hi Peter.
Bending of the plate can be avoided by placing a 10.00 mm bushing between the damper and the plate and a longer bolt. But in this case, I decided that I wanted to bend the plate and I think it worked out well. Bending is necessary because the damper tank rests on the plate when the rail is moving.
