In the late 80's, I bought a "Pace Quadriga" kit car replica of a Ferrari 308 GTS which used a Volumex donor (A499TYR)

After 4 years of labour, family committment forced the sale of an unfinished project, not before I managed to convince the DVLA to register it using the original donor registration.

I have seen it on Ebay since, many years ago...still unfinished. (pictures)

Just hoping someone managed to complete what was an almost impossible build.

Cheers,

Steve

The following are pictures of what it looked like on Ebay...pretty good still

Still recorded as a Lancia HPE Volumex so if it's been completed by a subsequent owner it'll be on a Q plate  or IVA'd and issued with a new number/description most likely. Of course it might still be in a garage being built!

Hi Guy, No, I got to a particular stage of the build that it qualified to be registered with the donor registration number because I was able to demonstrate that most parts originated from the donor. An DVLA inspector came out to check everthing out and I subsequently received a new V5 with the original reg, I think it was described as a Lancia Beta Volumex special or something such like.

Why impossible?

Well....seeing as you asked......

No build manual
Volumex engine didnt fit (as promised) and had to have the chassis structurally modified to accommodate the Blower pulley
Only parts supplied were the bodyshell, a basic chassis, a windscreen, fuel tanks and a wiring loom. Everything else had to be designed specified and manufactured by myself
The doors were really difficult as I had to create the window frames and all the internals as well as hinges

Long long long story short...this was not a "kit car" but just a bodyshell and a poorly designed chassis and you had to make the rest of it up yourself. A terrible purchase prospect but I was obsessed with having a Ferrari and was blinded.

Should have bought the HF2000 stratos replica or even a DGT fro JH Classics...both of which were properly thought out kit cars that you largely bolt together.

Anyhow, I had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 years, learned an awful lot and regretted selling it as unfinished.

20 years later I was fortunate enough to purchase an actual Ferrari 308 GTS QV which is still my pride and joy

The following are pictures of what the car looked like during ny ownership & build

Good story and pretty impressed you managed to get that far.

308/328 would be my choice of Ferrari if I ever bought one (not too likely)

Sounds austentatious to have a Ferrari but I bought the 308 10 years ago as an uncared-for example and have brought it back to condition. It only goes to shows and up an down the West coast highway on a Sunday in Perth Western Australia but only when the sun is shining...which is every sunday (sorry, couldnt resist....previously lived in Luton you see !) Back then they were cheap to buy and thanks to Superformance in Hoddeston UK, the parts supply is extensive and good value....cheaper than Lancia Parts (seriously)

Right now I am mad keen for a good Lancia Beta coupe to bring back to pristine condition but the prices here, even terrible old wrecks, are sky high....what is going on ?

A Lancia is a more affordable classic and more rare than a 308. (would really love an S1 with that orange interior....just like my old 1979 Blue S1)

Yes, this is MLC #2

Pic is my 1979 Beta coupe 1600 (PFY 4T) which I owned for 6 years....absolutely fantastic car

Hi,

I have been in contact with Jordan and hoping to keep up a dialogue.

Really pleased that A499RYR still exists and I think that the work both myself and the previous owner have done will get you off to a flying start. There were years of work that went into the build thus far and so there will surely be light at the end of the tunnel.

I know there were at least 2 customer cars built along with the company demonstrator ( VKV 90X) and hoping those that have owned these cars will also chime into this forum to help Jordan. (all built on Lancia Beta running running gear). The car was marketed as the PACE Quadriga

This is a link to the write up on the PACE Quadriga that the Kit Car Magazine did - http://www.extremeguru.com/automilan/Quadriga.php

A499RTY was also up on Ebay several years ago and the listing has been preserved on this website - https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/reserve-ferrari-308-gts-high-replica-486196394

Hoping there will be progress photos posted along the way Jordan ?

Cheers

Steve

PS In case anyone is interested, the following are what the finished car should look like. Think Jordan is intending to make it more faithful to the original.....which is what I was doing (Apologies for the quality , these are photos of photos taken at the show where I put my deposit down)

Back up for sale again
Bit of a strange one given that the new owner only bought it 10 days ago
