Hi, i have a Beta Coupé from 1975 that has an integrated foglight. I don't recall seeing any Betas with a feature like that. The foglight is positioned in the middle of the rear bumper.
Do i have a rare version of the Beta? Is the rear bumper itself rare?

Hi

Did cars have fog lights fitting as standard in 1975?

As far I know, there is no obvious provision for switches and wiring, other than as an add on which would have been done several years after sale.

Always willing to be educated of course!

It is rare, I've seen it before and I think it might be in the parts book but it is something not often seen at all

I have never seen this or heard of it before, which is not something I say often regarding Betas and Montecarlos.

Keen to see a picture.

My Spider had an add-on rear fog light under the rear bumper (not integrated in it) which looked a bit of an afterthought and never worked properly anyway. I removed it many years ago to clean up the look of the car and stop random MoT fails.

I think that was a common fit back in the 80/90s in the UK. One of the scrapped Betas also had this, I think they use one of the unused switch holes near the steering wheel for the switch.

Here's the rear bumper. I'll try to get a better picture of it in a couple of hours. .

Now that is something I have never seen before on a Beta. Here on early cars there was a single fog light on a bracket hanging from the right bumper mount. On later IE & VX twin fog lights hanging from brackets fitted to the lower edge on the wrap round bumpers.

Some information about the car, it's production number is 9500 and it was a showroom car. Maybe PininFarina had something to do with it after all Grin
We also have this radio, wich i was told was very rare too.

Hi

Just checked the parts book and the fog light bumper was an option for both S1 and S2 pre f/l coupes, also on some other models, not all. No idea on f/l models.

Thanks Peter, but what does f/l mean? Also, is there a reason why we don't see these rear bumpers around? You would expect to see alot more if it was an option for both s1 and 2.

Hi

Sorry, f/l means facelift. The Early S2 was very similar to the S1 cars, different engines, but similar interior. In 1977 they introduced the facelift cars with a more modern interior, electronic ignition etc.

That radio is a neat unit but something I haven't seen before. I suspect it is either a dealer fit accessory or an after market one. Does it have a speaker in the lower portion beneath the "head unit"?

Hello, just spotted this very interesting topic.
In the UK, the regulations for rear mounted high-intensity guard lamps were that if a single lamp was fitted it had to be offset to the driver's side of the car. So a centrally mounted unit would not be legal at that time. I think the rule was changed several years later.
