Can someone help me with diagrams and part numbers for synchromesh components to overhaul 2nd gear. I think the parts where the same throughout the years but I stand corrected if the fiche suggests otherwise.

I know the components haven’t been available for years but I want to keep an eye out in case some old stock surfaces somewhere.

Cheers

I can copy the pics from any of the parts books, what series is yours specifically?

Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but have you tried changing the oil with the correct non EP oil?

The gearbox I intend to overhaul sooner or later is from a 2.0 injection.

I haven’t driven it yet to know of it’s functional performance but I’d like to see if I can track down spares as I will undoubtedly want to rebuild it at some point seeing as the car I’m building is going to be a daily runner. 2nd gear syncro is always the first to tire. So I want to get ahead of the game and start collecting spares.

Oil wise I always use Red line MT non slip. My VX works well on it hot and cold.

Thanks again

I'll see what I can do, too much on my mind at the moment so apologies in advance if I forget. I'll need to photograph the microfiche. I think (only think) I might have some synchro rings that are Lancia but application possibly unknown (might not be in original bags) if I ever come across then when rummaging I'll let you know.

2nd gear has always been ok on my Betas up to 80k miles. By then the linkage and bushes will be shot, and these are usually the real problem. So if they are renewed, and the gearbox gets a quality oil change you may find that you don't need to rebuild it.

I think I may have found the synchro baulk rings here.

Can anyone check if the part number is the same through early and late 2.0L gearboxes please.
I’m looking to rebuild my late 2.0 i.e. gearbox and just want to make sure this is the correct ring.

Thanks
Ian
