Hi
Giving my car a tidy up in preparation for this years NEC show.

Can anyone recommend a supplier of chrome wheel bolts.

Lots of different sizes/specs listed on eBay, all saying they are for a Beta ?
My car is: 1981 1.6 Coupe

Any help much appreciated
Thanks Tony

Hi Tony, I was in similar situation last year. In the end I had the original bolts polished and was surprised how well they came up. A local guy did it for me and think it cost me a tenner. Gave the heads a coat of wax before refitting and they’ve stayed looking good. Picture shows before and after.

Thanks
They look great, £10 what a bargain  Grin, sadly I’m re-roofing my garage this weekend, and having the roof on my Coupe re-painted next weekend, so I will need to keep the car mobile, was hoping to find a set on the shelf if possible.

Failing that I’ll also get mine re-chromed after the show.
Thanks Tony

Hi All

Just following up on this thread.

My wheel bolts are somewhat tired and need rechroming, anyone had this done and how successful was it?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

I haven't had Beta wheel bolts re-chromed, but I did have some bike parts re-chromed locally the other week - the passenger grab rail, the 4 bolts that hold it to the subframe and part of the gear lever - total cost £60 and the finish was excellent. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a chrome plating/electroplating firm near you, but I'm sure my Sheffield firm could do mail order. Their details are:

Alpha Electroplaters Ltd.
17 Wood Fold,
Sheffield
S3 9PE

Tel: 0114 275 6702

Be aware that if the parts have any severe pitting that this will affect the final finish, as the chrome plating doesn't fill in gaps. It's quite a lengthy process, as the original plating has to be stripped in an acid bath, followed by buffing/polishing, then a layer of nickel, then finally the top layer of chrome.
