hello everybody i would like to introduce my 1600 coupe to everybody.i bought her in 2016 and after buying her i did some research, she was last on the road in 1985 until 2016 when i put her back on the road so in her long life she was only on the road for 7 years, and her mileage reads 28000 which i think is real

i will be adding more pics later on the restoration part of this fourm.
oh bye the way how do you get the dash board out

To add photos you click on Additional Options just below the text entry box, then select the Choose file to select the photo. There is a limit per post of 1.5mb or 20 photos.

Welcome aboard- the car looks good and sounds like it shares a similar history with mine, in that it has had a long 'rest' during its life.

I am sure you will find the same great advice and help here that I have.

I am only in Shropshire myself so possibly not too far away.

Good luck.

It will be series 2 pre facelift but it's from about half way through that series as it has the flat bonnet which was changed to the high bonnet about half way through 1300/1600 production (before that only 2000 had high bonnet)

The reason I ask is that it has the chrome coloured pieces behind the rear window which I thought were S1 only, after that they were black, or did they put them on the pre f/l as well?

Pre FL were chrome effect except for 1300, visually tbh I think it is very difficult to tell the difference S1 to S2 at least externally. The interiors are different though at least for the cloth trim, not sure about vinyl or leather.

Lovely looking car ripe for a gentle resto! As ever, the only way to really determine the series is by the info on the VIN plate which, presuming based on the small amount of evidence we have at the moment (1978, S plate, single spine bonnet, cream leatherette pre facelift interior, by far the best looking IMHO, super little sculpted door mounted mirrors) should state it's a BC and then the serial number will give a more accurate idea as to its production timeline. There is a belief that a lot of early cars sat around in dealers waiting for a home but I'm yet to substantiate any of those tales from people who sold the cars back in the day! Mine is very similar in spec ( if not condition  Grin) and is also a 78 S plate. There was a lovely early BC (76 P plate) for sale in Hexham, Northumberland last year that needed a fair amount of structural stuff but was complete, it was also similar in spec but had a lovely metallic blue colour, seller really knew his onions too. These cars have, at the very least, got to be worth the headache of restoring properly as they're such great cars to drive, and own!!

I think only late cars hung around on fields, there's a lot of 79 built ones that weren't reg until 80 or 81 even 82

Particularly on the 1600 with the low bonnet,  S1 style grill add got having the one piece headlamps (all easy enough to change of course).  I'd also go for early S2 on this. If it was a spider it'd have chrome/stainless wipers.  Got sure whether the coupe did or not.
