I found this spider for sale. It's rough but needs a lot of work.

The back window does not fold down but is solid and can be removed

It's got a hardtop? That's pretty rare.

It'll be interesting to see what it looks like after a clean up. It's hard to tell with all that crud on it. That 3/4 panel looks nasty though.

I've decided to buy it. I know there is a lot of work but getting it for such a low price (400 pounds). I would like to know more about the hard top. It's the first one I have ever seen or heard about. Hawk there is no hood just the hard top.

The hard top was an option from what I have found. It was sold in Europe and in the US as I have seen them offered in both places before. I think they were directly sold by Lancia as the (some of?) the Spyders have the wiring pre installed for the heated rear window which the hardtop has, if what I have read before. I have seen them offered from 100 Euros up to $500 in reasonable condition.

Not really sure of the point in the UK, maybe for winter driving? I thought the whole point of the Spyder was top down/off motoring.

If you want a spare rear frame to replace it, I have one, will need the cover replacing.

Thanks for the info Peter, yes my concern is that once you decide to take the back off its off so if you get caught in rain then there's no way of keeping dry. I might take you up on that offer, I'll let you know

the hardtop is very rare, I think the idea was to replace the hood in winter and seems to have mainly been offered as an option in north america. I imagine it would also provide a good compromise for anyone who needs to keep a spider outside as you can still remove the roof panel and is obviously more secure and probably less leak prone. You are lucky to find that car for that price with the hardtop it has to be the bargain of the century even if it wasn't restorable I suspect you'd easily return a profit breaking it

Nope this ones a keeper, it's gonna go straight to the body shop so I have a good base to work from. I'll be needing a few parts though.

I have some spare sider parts let me know what you need and I'll see if I've got it.

I'm replacing the rear 3/4 panel on mine as the bottom has rotten out  - but the bit in the middle where yours is dented is fine. Using it as a repair panel might be easier than trying to fix what you've got.
