Hi

Does anyone know if a 1982 coupe dashboard will fit straight into my 1978 spider?

Thanks Garry

If you are talking about black dash to replace brown dash it's not really recommended the wiring of later cars differs quite a lot and the car will become a bit of a mongrel secondly the brown dash is far more desirable these days. If it's black to black I can't imagine it being an issue but don't know for certain

The dash in mine is very badly cracked in many places that is the reason I was looking to change it.

They often can be, the whole layout and electrical system is revised on later cars with the black dash. Best to replace black with black or brown with brown. There are detail differences on late cars (ie and vx) vs earlier facelifts but nothing drastic so I guess the basic dash is the same(?).
Facelift = black dash pre facelift = brown

What series is your car?

Im not sure what series it is? sounds like the pre-face lift model.
I know I am going against the purists on here but the car is for my son, who is working on the car with me.
He wants the colour of the car and interior changed. I know this isn't best but at least another Spider will get back on the road!

Well purity is one thing but the wiring layout isn't the same might be a pain to do or you might end up with constant electrical gremlins. I have seen cars where the change has been done but don't know anyone who has done it
