Series 2 or Series 3

I apologize for being such a noob...but I cannot seem to find definitive facts to what constitutes Series 2 or Series 3.  I have a 1979 beta Coupe, carbed and it is in the USA.  I am hunting down parts, and found a lower radiator hose on Betaboyz, stating will NOT fit Series 3...Is there a place where it specifies what Series is what?  I think, I know, that Series 1 is up to 1975???

Please help.  Is my coupe Series 2 or Series 3?

1979 with Carb is definitely Series 2 (Facelift).

Not sure about the US spec,but in the UK Series 3 cars (or Series 2 Facelift 2 as I think Lancia referred to it) have fuel injection or are supercharged.

I think injection may have been introduced earlier in the US.

The European models are s1,s2,s2facelift (or series3),s2facelift 2 (or series 4) there is a lot of confusion about this so never rely on the series quoted on any posts or adverts. North american models follow a similar but not identical path with changes each model year to meet US regulations

As regards rad hoses the s2 fl2 cars have a different radiator position and also two different radiator styles which use different houses to earlier cars, NA cars may well be different again

Thanks for the help, guys.  So, if the radiator is positioned where the hose on Betaboyz won't fit, any ideas where to find a replacement?

First time I'd heard the facelift referred to as Series 3 I think, but I checked 'La Lancia' and you are right. Confusingly there is no reference to Series 4 though, just Facelift 2. US cars are listed separately throughout, as is the Volumex.

Not the 'Bible' I thought it was though, as I noticed while looking that it shows the '2nd & 3rd Series' 1300 Coupes as having the same engine etc., which of course, they don't. As you've said before I think much of the confusion stems from the paucity of reliable records from Lancia at that time. Strange when you see the still immaculate copperplate production records from the 1950's. I always wonder if Fiat 'got rid' of some records to confuse the Italian tax authorities?

Thanks again for the clarification.  The nice thing is, the radiator is positioned properly, so the lower hose on Betaboyz will fit! 

New clutch and brakes are on the way, motor is running super strong.  Now, just tie up the loose ends and get her on the road.

What I find really odd is the way Italians use series 1/2/3/4 and rest of Europe uses s1/s2/s2fl/s2fl2. The normal excuse about the lack of production records is that they were lost in a flood in the seventies but I can't believe that even the basic chassis number by month lists were lost there must be copies of these somewhere for the missing years (around 1973 to 1978 with respect to beta)
