Noticed yesterday that there is a fine gauze filter on the end of the sender- which is pretty grotty and may just be the source of my problems.

I have a new sender but it has no filter on. Is this critical?

Don't remember a filter gauze on mine when I had it out last year?

Not if you have a good quality filter in line you inspect frequently

It's gone now anyway. Looking at it closely, the  'glob ' may have been a piece of gauze that has gone awol.

May add a filter king as additional protection, as they were a period mod I assume. I definitely had one on a weber carved Ford c 1980.
