BetaMeeta 2015 - North Yorkshire 20/21 June

There's been enough interest shown in the North Yorkshire plan to make it viable so here's a reminder of the plan so far:

-    Start in Stokesley (a couple of miles north of the North York Moors and about 10 miles to the south of Teeside).  The annual Stokesley Classic Car Show takes place on the Saturday.  It's a low key charity event with about 200 cars; they're a friendly bunch and welcome use of their venue as a meeting point.  The show runs from 10am to 4pm: whilst they like the main show cars to be in position for 9.30, for clubs they tend to group cars to one side and you can pretty much arrive as you please which makes it easy for those from the greatest distances.  Stokesley is a pleasant market town with food and coffee.

-     Late pm - Drive coast/Moors.

-     Overnight accommodation for those who wish.  I have the use of a 4-bedroom holiday cottage and camping field at the Family's farm near Chop Gate if you don't want the cost of B&B.  For those willing to commit early, I'm sure you'd rather stay indoors and there are plenty of beds even if we double up in the rooms; if of course you'd rather sleep under canvas, the paddock will be clear for tents and there are appropriate wash/shower facilities.  Chop Gate is about 6 miles south of Stokesley after a nice climb up into the National Park.  Undercover car storage/repair space in a barn if needed.  Depending on numbers, we'll either BBQ and drink beer at the farm or I'll arrange minibus taxi to the village for a bar meal.

-     Sunday - drive over the Moors.  Include B1257 to Helmsley, Pickering for North York Moors Railway, probably out towards Whitby then back over the Moors towards Stokesley.

I'll put together a pack-up of outline maps and approximate timings as we get nearer the date; this will allow a bit of choice on meeting or departure points for those with further to travel.  I'll also include detail of the Farm's location for those who wish to stay but, to keep track of numbers attending, I'll send these pack-ups to your personal mail addresses.

If you responded to my earlier post on the General Discussion page, please do so again on this thread and give me an idea of your accommodation wishes... I'll do my best!  If you hadn't already responded, and you want to get involved, please indicate your interest below as soon as possible.

By my recollection we should have the following so far:

  • Neil-yaj396 (full weekend)
    smithymc (TBC)
    peteracs (no Beta, Saturday only)
    Thotos (full weekend)
    HFStuart (full weekend)
    rossocorsa (no Beta, Saturday only)
    mtulloch (TBC)

Ultimately, the earlier you can commit to this... the easier it is for me to make it all work.

As stated before, I'll be there for the whole weekend with the Trevi (it does have a 'Beta' badge on the bootlid  Wink Grin )
Sorry, I don't do camping so it'll have to be a bed for me. If there's not going to be an 'official' hotel selected nearby just let me know when it's a 'go' and I'll sort something out. I'll probably travel north on the Friday so I'll have a two night stay and be sure to be there on time on the Saturday.

Theo

All noted, your early commitment certainly secures the bed and you're welcome Friday night too.

Chaps

For those attending (guessing upto 10 cars) I could get 'Betaboyz BetaMeeta 2015 North Yorkshire' medium (290x 145mm) polypropylene rally plates made in full colour for £10 each including set up.

Would this be of interest?

Still not 100% certain if I can make this all weekend but looking hopeful for Saturday. Are there any rooms left or would it be wise to pack a tent just in case? Huh?

I like the idea of a rally plate.

Looks I will be staying overnight Saturday, heading back Sunday morning.

I'd say with current expected numbers, aside from Neil, who likes the canvas, we should all be in the cottage. Certainly a much more comfortable  option!

And you may not have a car by then either........, best of luck with the sale if you decide to go that way.

Evening Chaps

BETAMEETA 15 UPDATE

I'm reaching a stage where it would be handy to gather all your PM addresses.

I have a word doc from the Stokesley Rotary Club which, if completed soon, will get free entry to the showfield.  I can assure you that they're keen to see even a small gathering of Betas for a couple of hours so it'll be a great start point but I'll need to attach the doc to an email for you to enter your reg details etc.

Saturday   We'll leave the showfield by 1500hrs to go out through Great Ayton to the coast at Saltburn (13 miles); after ice-creams if you wish, it'll be back in the cars for some gentle moors roads through Danby, Castleton and Kildale to Great Broughton before turning left to blast up the hill (Clay Bank) on the B1257 for about 5 miles towards our accomodation at the farm.  Total tour distance from departing showfield approx 40 miles.

For those staying overnight, I'll have some beers waiting and I've gone for taxis (booked) at 1930hrs to take us back into Great Broughton to The Bay Horse for dinner and beer.  Return taxis are booked for 2230hrs.

Sunday   After breakfast (Time TBD) it'll be South on the B1257 to Helmsley then East on the A170 to Pickering to meet the North York Moors Railway.  Detail on rail tickets, for those who wish, will follow; otherwise, we have the A169 North to Grosmont then possibly to continue to Whitby but I suggest we plan that on the day depending on your return journey plans.

I aim to finalise numbers for Taxis, Dinner, Beds/Camping spots and possibly Railway Tickets by 13 June.  Showfield details should be much sooner but if we don't get the forms completed it's only £5.00 at the gate on the day!

All I need for now is your personal email address so please drop me a line to themaces@hotmail.com as soon as you can.
