OK then - let's try and get this off the ground.

The weekend of 27th & 28th September has been proposed along with a venue http://www.thewatermanpub.auburnclient.co.uk/

The Sunday is LMC AGM at Gaydon (15 miles away) which may limit numbers but let's see who can make.

if anyone wants to make a weekend of it, let me know as there are many places to stay locally (Warwick, Stratford or Leamington are nice and the Cotswolds is in striking distance)

If we get enough people up, we can then talk about timings and a drive out?

LMC AGM is on Sunday 28th.

So why not try and make a weekend of it!

Friday 26th: Meet at hotel on evening of Friday 26th for those who can make it. Dinner at a local Italian restaurant or at the hotel.
Saturday 27th: Others arrive in hotel car park in the late morning. Scenic drive to lunch venue (pub). After lunch, scenic drive back to hotel for those staying Saturday night. Dinner Saturday night preferably in the hotel.
Sunday 28th: Check out of hotel and scenic drive to Gaydon. LMC Committee members go to meeting room others look around Gaydon or just socialise in car park and kick Beta tyres.

Hey presto, Betameeta14  Grin

We just need to find a suitable nearby hotel with availability  Wink

Sounds like the makings of a plan and that the Saturday is looking good.

I wouldn't be able to do the Friday night but a meet on Saturday works (as does a mooch around the car museum on the Sunday

Hotel locations depend on how far people want to drive but there are plenty of options (Statford upon Avon being almost equidistant from the waterman pub and gaydon

Might manage the Saturday but wouldn't be able to do the weekend, as a non member no particular interest in the LMC stuff on Sunday. No beta on the road of course would have to come in the chrysler Roll Eyes

I think the 'LMC Stuff' only applies to Theo and myself. Really it's a visit to Gaydon that is being proposed for Sunday. Last time I was there there was an Opel Manta meet. The cars were parked on the grass in front of the Museum rather than in the car park individually. If we go ahead I'll try to contact the Museum and arrange this for us.

Sadly we will not be able to make these dates, nor any other dates this side of Xmas, due to work commitments. I promise that next year we will be more active and able to attend events

might be another spanner in the works as unexpectedly come across a potential project, if i buy it I'll need the time and money to get it going but then would have something to go to meetings in next year.

I will apologise now for the state of my car ... It runs, but it's not pretty Wink

Saturday 27th is looking like a winner Smiley

I'm not going to be able to do the weekend (Sat is OK and I may have a couple of hours to pop to Gaydon on Sunday) and given the limited interest for a whole weekend and significant time constraints, I'm going to propose a Saturday only meet and leave that anyone planning to come for this and LMC organise their own timings.

I'm more than happy to coordinate timings for Sunday and offer guidance on hotels but I'm sorry to say that I don;t have the time to devote to organisng this properly.

Unless anyone objects / has a better idea, I'm thinking something along the lines of:

11:30am to 1pm - meet at pub for general chat / meet up / lunch for those that want it

1:30pm - leave pub for a drive out.  I'm thinking a loop from the pub to stratford upon avon to evesham (ish) and then winding through the Cotswolds (via Chipping Campden) Shipston, Banbury, Gaydon and then back to pub / hotel?  Those wanting to leave on route can pick up the M5 (Evesham) or M40 (Banbury).  I'm sure there is a tea room / pub on the way we can invade.

Need to get of my arse now and find some time to get my wheel bearing changed

There are those who claim that "no Trevi is pretty"! In fact when I told the guy who restored the Trevi "I don't wan't a full restoration, I just want to make it look pretty" he said to me "there's nothing I can do to make a Trevi pretty"  Grin  Grin  But I think it's pretty and that's what counts to me...

Saturday only Betameeta14 sounds OK to me too although I'll probably stay somewhere local for going to Gaydon on Sunday; it'll probably cost less than the fuel to drive home in the Trevi and back to Gaydon the next morning  Undecided  Grin

Always plenty of Premier Inns about  Smiley

Actually the one in Cov city centre in the old technical college is quite interesting - much better than the normal warehouse on an industrial estate sort!

There's a new (ish) Premier Inn just off the A46 (near to J15 M40) at Warwick - some friends stayed there a couple of weeks ago and said it was OK.

5 mins from Warwick
5 mins from Waterman pub
15 mins to Gaydon
