As Peter said, we bought from the US (with Peter kindly arranging the import etc.) - must have been 2, possibly 3, years ago.
I looked for a long time at sourcing one in the UK and was staggered by the pricing - most people wanted over £400 for the hood and then a similar amount for fitting!!!!!
Having been told that fitting can be a nightmare I decided not to tackle myself and had hoped to get Aldridge trimmers to fit (IIRC they quoted £270) but they couldn't do before the summer and my trip to Europe. In the end, I was put in touch with a mobile fitter who works for insurance companies reparing hoods etc and agreed a cash job with him.
Took him about 2 hours but he said it was pretty straight forward and that the hood was good quality / well made. I'd recommend both him and the hood.
Might be a little pricy bringing him to Ireland!
I'm actually amazed how expensive a small hood can be.
I'm now in a state of terror regarding my Golf as while the (considerably larger) hood is in great condition, the fitted headlining and insulating horsehair (I kid you not!) mat are in tatters.
It'll probably be cheaper to buy a scrapper with a good hood for that job.
I'm quite a way off needing the Beta hood but I like to have all necessary parts in my grasp before I start the job so I'm not sat twiddling my thumbs waiting for stuff to arrive to complete it.
