Hello Everyone, When driving my beta coupe i get a smell of hot gear oil which comes from the hot exhaust just as it dissapears under the body as it leaves the engine bay, but the only thing above the exhaust at this point is the steering gear, can this leak oil on to the exhaust ?.  Alan

Don't want to be a pessimist but,  I had a similar problem with my Spyder and found it was a fine mist of oil being sprayed on to the exhaust from the back of the cylinder head.  The head gasket had failed where the oil feed rises to the cams ! ! !

The usual oil leaks that find their way onto the exhaust are the bottom of the rear Cambox (very common) or the sump gasket.
