I found this head for sale on ebay but I'm not convinced his claims for the power upgrade would be accurate and as to what he is actually including in the auction, well it's a little unclear.
I intend to ask about the cams and what he means but I'd like the opinions of the good folks here first

Hi All

Just from memory talking/reading his book with Guy Croft, on a 2000 you should be able to get 150bhp+ out of it no problem with correctly gas flowed head, uprated cams and decent carbs. You also need to take heed of the following, is the rest of the engine up to the power increase/rev range increase. As to how usable on the road etc is down to the setup. I am sure Eric can comment with real life experience on this.

There are a load of unknowns here, who modded the head, has it been crack tested, what are the cams and are they in good order are ones that come to mind. For myself I would always start with a stock head and do the mods myself after having the head crack tested, though not always an option for others who do not want to spend the time. Alternative is spend the money on a GC modded head….

Just my two penny worth

It does seem like a blank cheque all right, especially the lack of specifics regarding the cams as I imagine it would be stated clearly being a major selling point if they were worthy of mention.
I'm leaving it on my "watch list" out of curiosity only

It says 'genuine Lancia parts'

I'd take that to mean standard cams. Also it mentions 'big' valves - but those are the standard Beta sizes.

I note they've also ground the valve guides down while porting which suggests they haven't been changed.

It might well flow better than a standard head but buying it would be a gamble.

Personally I find the underlying tone of the auction (the terms and conditions and so on) off putting, difficult to say whether mods to head are good or bad but it looks OK and current price isn't expensive

Judging by the shine on that red paint i reckon it would be good for around 250hp and at least 18,000rpm Grin

Well, as i said in a previous post, my paint job was worth another 10 BHP, so maybe your figures are a little optomistic? (Or do you sell red paint?) Grin
