Can any one please give me some direction as to the measurements of the 'Full' and 'Low' marks from the flat face of the
rubber washer on the dipstick, I modified the dipstick some 10 yrs ago and last year replaced the gearbox oil by volume,
ie 1.75 litres?. I have no leaks and the box is quiet (3rd is a bit whiney during engine braking?) and is always willing to change cogs (137,000mls) but only the very tip of the stick indicates a level? suggesting its well below 'Low' or empty? Shocked
The box is a 5 speed from a 2 litre Beta HPE ie of 1983 vintage Roll Eyes
any replies greatly appreciated. Grin

The amount of oil in the box is 1.8ltr., so if you have no leaks it should be fine. Try to source a proper dipstick, but no other car than lancia beta has something like it Wink At least I do not know. So it is not a really essential gadget Wink

Cheers 'luka' its really the measurements on the stick at 'L' and 'F' I'm after? I cant use a full length stick, as
the gearbox is in a 'Hawk' and there is a boot heat shield that prevents the use of a standard length item, my top part
of the stick has been shortened so that only the hooked handle is above the rubber grommet (its a bit of a reach to get to Sad
but its the only way it will fit, being that short!) I think during modification I must have lost 'reference' as if theres just about the
correct level of oil in? then 'dipped' part of the stick must be too short and my level marks are thus in the wrong place? Embarrassed
I could do with the 'correct' measurements so I can re-modify while Im sure I have the correct amount of oil in the box!

(would post a pic but dont know how Undecided)

'Ammy' Do you mean you sent 'ME' an email?

Sorry Kev,  I already had Lukas' e-mail address,  sent him an e-mai photograph with the dipstick lying on a tape measure,  then realised it wasn't him asking for info.   Like you,  I cannot add photos on this site.
