Pretty sure that they're not.

There are slight differences between models and series though. Coupe subframes do not have the extra holes for the locating lugs at the rear that HPE ones have for example, although the HPE one will fit the coupe....The late ones also had extra reinforcement underneath on the longitudinal sections.

There are many different part numbers for various models so presumably many subtle differences, I am also unsure that the dimensions of very early frames are the same as series 2 certainly the mounting points on the body seemed to have been modified in some way

Series 2 subframe fits S1 coupe, not sure about saloon/HPE though.

I've had a look at the tech data and there is a dimension on the bodywork checking data for the 'front subframe rear mounting bores' on series AB distance to centre line is given as 220 +/- 0.5 but on  series CB/BC it says 251.7 +/-0.5 there also seems to be a difference as to where the subframe 'dowel holes' are positioned. However the subframe data only shows the earlier dimensions (I'll have to measure the subframe mounts in the garage) but maybe this info was never updated?

I checked my vx subframe which is currently off the car (along with most of the rest of it!) and it seems to measure 440 between the mounting points suggesting that the tech data is not correct (??)
