In taking off my carb to have it re-built, I noticed the 'odd' action of the cable/rod linkage fixed to the cam cover.

On closer inspection it appears that some form of bushing has effectively disintegrated over the 28 years my car has 'rested'.

Is it a case of making some new ones or are these available somewhere?

Thanks

Do you have a picture of the linkage section where the bush should go?  I'll have a look at the parts book to see if it can be purchased individually and what the part number is.  Failing that I'll have a look at my Coupe and take the dimensions from the rubber bush on there so at least you have the measurements so you know hat to look for.

I would guess that it may be a case of buyinging a multi-pack of varying sizes (Most motor factors have a "Wot Nots" rack) and finding a suitible fit.  I assume its a Series 2 Face Lift with a Weber carb?

Thanks Matt

I attach ( hopefully) a few photos which may clarify what I am on about.

I think the part number for these bushes are 82329228 - two are required. ( Item No. 5 in the picture )

I checked Felix's website in South Africa and he lists them as available (although they are call Bush White Linkage and listed for a Beta Sedan) but at £4.57 each it might be worth a punt.

Other than that your going to be looking for 2nd hand or an alternate part.

Thats the fella !  And the bushes are white - so I think the PN is correct.  But Geoff's part looks like the way to go!

Fantastic. Is there a way to contact Geoff off-forum to buy the linkage ( if he wishes to sell it of course)?

I have seen reference to private messages, but I dont know how that works

You might want to try and source an original metal throttle linkage piece as well, (32, 9, 25,14 in Matts image) I wouldn't fancy keeping that plastic piece now you've got a good linkage/bushes from Geoff Smiley

Complete piece in the post.
I may have the other pieces (32 etc) I'll have a look,
What's the length of the plastic link ?

Geoff

Sorry its taken so long - the plastic link is about 90mm between centres. To be honest, something I could make a little shorter would make the action nicer.

These are the links I've found, lower one is fixed
length, upper is adjustable,  I can run a longer thread
if required.
