The family "NoVAT" will shortly be relocating from UK to France on a permanent basis, in the next 3-4 months.   :-)

We have found a property with a nice farm house in 5.5 acres, stone barn, 50 car garage  Grin a lake and a river. Located 15 Kms from Bressuire in Poitou Charentes region. We just have to sell our house here in the UK and then we are off.

I will be continuing in my role as an Admin on here and will complete the engine dampers group buy, but I'm seriously busy planning & preparing for the move, so please bear with me.

Both my Betas are coming with me, sadly the Blue S1 1600 will not be finished in time to be driven over so my headache will be boxing everything up and having the car transported out to me once its bodywork, paint & screen refits is competed. Then I'll re-fit it there.

An Anglo-French BetaMeet is a distinct possibility as we will have masses of room and Bressuire even has an annual classic car street race :-)

I will be clearing out an awful lot of my Beta parts and either selling them on Ebay or selling them at Beaulieu Auto Jumble later this year, so there will be plenty of bargains available soon.

All the best with the move, Matt. I've not persuaded my wife yet that a move to France would be a Good Thing, but I'm working on it. I can see a future Franglais Beta sub-group emerging. You've probably got room for all the Club's Betas under one roof, by the sound of it...

I'm lucky in that my wife is already fluent (studied at Uni), my daughter being 4 1/2 years old and just about to start school is like a wee sponge and will pick it up in 3 months.  Me.... well, I can scrape by, but will take lessons once there.

I cannot wait, we are all looking forward to it and once we are there I can turn my mind to planning some kind of joint event. (in my spare time)   Grin Grin

Hi Matt
Glad you found your French property, Bressuire is 15 minutes drive from my place so look forward to meeting up.
I am currently in negotiations for buying a LHD spider with the intention of taking it over to France and restoring it there.
There are some great driving roads in the area, with the added benefit of very little else on the road except for the odd stray farm animal!!
Also I know of a excellent local bodyshop who carry restoration work on of classic cars.
Good luck

Hi Matt,

You may or may not be pleased to know that the folk's place is also 15 mins from you, at Boucoeur and we get out at least once a year so happy to transport stuff to and from for you. It'll also give me an excuse to get the Monte out there for a run and the old man is toying with a lhd Monte, so you'll be in good company!

Look forward to catching up again over une Biere ou deux!! ;o)

Cheers
