Dear all
Well as most of us now know, 2012 marks the 40th year since the launch of the first Beta way back in 1972. It also marks 10 years of Beta Boyz / The Beta Forum. Hard to believe I know.

In order to mark the year we aim to get press coverage like we did for the 35th anniversary, and also try to get 40 Betas together at as many of this year’s car events (see Tony’s list on this forum). So spend the Winter months getting your Beta ready and on the road!

Also we have planned a...LANCIA BETA 40TH ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND 25 -27 May 2012.

Open to all Lancias!

The weekend has been arranged at the very beautiful De-Vere Dunston Hall Hotel (5 Star) near Norwich for the tour to be held around the Norfolk Broads.  The Dunston is a beautiful Elizabethan Mansion set in 150 acres of wooded parkland with its own Golf course and spa facilities.

The weekend package includes dinner, bed and breakfast on the Friday evening, use of all spa facilities. A driving tour of the broads on the Saturday visiting places of interest. A Gala dinner on the Saturday evening and bed and breakfast and use of the spa facilities. The Sunday morning will be feature an Autojumble and prizes for the best Betas.

Please find attached a booking form including prices as well as terms & conditions of the whole weekend package to be returned to Amanda Dodge who can be contacted via the following: call 01823-461472, 07765523656, e-mail: elmtreehomes@hotmail.co.uk or post with an SAE to: 52 Jeffreys Way, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 5JL.

If you are unable to open the above link, please click on the Word/PDF files attached below

Please register your interest as soon as possible.

Best wishes
John Bower

Ps. If anybody is wondering why we have chosen Norwich it is because we hope to have friends from The Netherlands joining us  Smiley

it is very unlikely I can commit to the whole weekend but I will try and get there for one of the days.

And can I put in an order for one of the polo shirts?

Dear John,
Great news, we can't wait. Anne and I have booked the weekend as we have always wanted a good excuse to go to the Norfolk Broads Grin. Now we get to travel in style in convoy around the patch with a bunch of lancias! I am sure that "Milleman" will be happy as I was speaking to him only the other week and he expressed his wish that it would be held in his neck of the woods for a change!
As for HPE, well on with the big push to get her finished. She has just had a complete interior renovation and looks great "looking out". Wheels are coming off this week to be re-enamelled. Wheel bolts and stuff already at the chromers etc! Then on the 30th its off to "Wesson Lancia" at Exeter for the major body surgery, (screen out, new scuttle grafted in, replacement hatch fitted, then partial respray of those areas)!
The body will then be very, very good. Not perfect, as the wheel arches have a couple of minor traffic scratches etc and the nearside door has some hidden "issues", but the cost of a Total respray complete with VX stripe is a bit much at present Shocked. So for now that will just leave the engine bay to finish cleaning up and suspension to re-vamp (maybe).
Well done for organising it.
PS. are we going to get any 40th Anniversary car mats made. our 35th ones are a little used now!

Hi

I was going to confirm my attendance for the weekend but a few hours ago i was told ive lost my job and have been given a few weeks notice. Then they ask me if I can train up the people taking over my job. Then i come back home to find a letter from TFL (Transport for London) which is a parking fine for 130 quid because i allegedly parked on a red route before New Years Eve....
... Apart from that, everything is fine and a lot can happen between now and April.. It can, can't it??   :-)  Whatever happens i will be turning up for at least one day.

VXdeMAYO,
Alan did a great job on my scuttle and on a respray so i'm sure you will get a super result with your HPE.

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck Graham, I hope things pick up and you find a new job.

Look forward to catching up on the Beta 40th.

What is the info for those wanting to go for just one day? Sunday would have seemed the obvious day for a display and general meet up/natter but it seems to finish at lunch time is that really the case?

Sorry to hear your not coming Alan. Maybe see you at one of the other meet ups.

Have had the first lot of 40th polo shirts today.
The ones for he Betameeta weekend will have some extra embroidery on the sleeve just for the weekend only.

Standard ones are available through LBP in sizes m to xl. I will take requests for other sizes.

Mark

Dear Mark,
Just an enquiry but is there any intention of producing a "40th Anniversary set of car mats" like the 35th set, 5 years ago?
All the best,
Chas, (VXdeMAYO).
