Not an everyday find in the Beta World

I did just buy a 1983 Beta Coupe Volumex . Nothing special about that but this is the first time this car was for sale since 1983.  1 owner from new. Last on the road was in 1993 and since then stored in the owners garage in Germany the last 17 years. The car has covered only 55 900 km or 34734 miles and comes  with the service history to confirm that.  The paint is 100% original with only a few minor rust spots that need attention ,one wheelarch side and the sill split under the doors . The inside and the entire interior are just like brand new.Still on the original Pirelli P6 tiers.
The car drives very nice but need a full service with belts and breaks .

Looks good I presume you will be doing the belts soon in case you are not aware the super charger tensioner bearing is the same as a regatta diesel 1.7 and the belt from same but 1.9 (also some later 1.9 diesels

Thanks for this info. I was wondring where to get that part.
Also need some carburettor work, or might a new one.

Hi

On reading various other postings, there apear to be a few good refurb places for the carbs (in the UK at least), so unless you are thinking of a change to larger, I would having it refurb'd, then you know what you are getting and the cost should not be that much against buying a replacement.

I am sure others will offer their experience, just my 2 penny worth.

A dcnf will fit and looks near standard aside from the lack of auto choke other options involve a lot of messing about with new radiators etc and look very much modified I think as the car is very original an overhaul of the 36dca would be the first choice . The dcnf is better but I suspect Lancia used the dca as it would have been cheaper and also possibly in an attempt to curb the rather excessive fuel consumption (without success!!)
I would think that at the mileage the carb would need a simple clean and the diaphragm etc replacing an easy diy job using an overhaul kit

Thanks for the info regarding the carb.Will keep it as original as possible.
The car is now by the painter . I will have to respray the right rear fender due to the rust and a little dent under the tankfiller and both sides sill split under doors.Not to bad for a soon 29 years old Beta.

forgot to mention it is difficult to find the 2 litre cam belt tensioner complete they are larger than the 1600 version and Fiat tensioners are different, you can get the replaceable bearing to go in the outer case quite easily though at a bearing specialist  get SKF or similar quality
