Anyone from here thinking of going?  I'll be taking the Spyder.

I've been to every one so far and this year will be the 10th anniversary of the Classic 24hrs.  It also happens that race day is my 40th birthday!

This event is July 7th - 8th 2012.

As I'll be in France for a fortnight in June, I'm not 100% sure whether I'l be able to go so close after getting back from holiday.  But I'm not ruling myself out at this point.

Thanks for posting the dates - completely forgot!

The official site gives more info http://www.lemansclassic.com/en/s01_home/s01p01_home.php

Seeing priceless classics being ragged on the track and gettinig a chance to get up close and personal makes it a 'must do' weekend for me.  It's more relaxed that the 'proper' 24 hour races and less crowded

But is there the same amount of beer as the annual Le Mans 24 hr?

I loaned part of my garage to a fine chap with a '61 Maserati Osca (former Le Mans car) after it's break-down in some hefty North Yorkshire rain a few months ago.  I've not been to a Le Mans Classic before but this chap will be racing his Osca next year and suggested I took my Beta Coupe on the run down through France just for the hell of it and insisted I say hello if I could make it down.  So you never know... there could be a bit of an invite to a broader Italian car social if I play my cards right! If there are any Betas going, count me in and I'll join the route south wherever appropriate.

I'll be there at Maison Blanche. Not sure if I'll be in the VX though.

My holiday in France has been moved forward to start of June so this could be a go-er for me. Whats the general consensus for getting into France for this?

A) EuroTunnel & a 5 hour drive from calais to Le Mans?

B) Portsmouth to Caen ferry and 2.5 - 3 hours drive down to Le Mans.

When I've been to Le Mans 24 hrs before I've always used the ferry as it is a good laugh as its full of petrolheads.  The drive to Le Mans is a giggle too, counting off/helping the Triumph Stag & TVR owners as they suffer the inevitible breakdowns en route!    Wink

There is also the possibility of a Monte contingent heading down and camping on site if you fancy a bit of a convoy?

Cheers

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

I'm going down with a 1967 Mini Cooper, a 1959 Merc SL, a 1986 XR2i, a couple of motorbikes and a (cough) MX5.

Travelling down Thursday night on the Portsmouth Le Havre Ferry so will be at Le Mans in time for lunch after taking in some great roads.  We camp outside the circuit
