Can both chokes on a 34 DATR carb be linked to operate together?
I have a vague memory of this being done on a MK2 Escort many years ago to produce a cheap performance upgrade, or am I just more confused than usual?
Basically, I am looking for a "free" performance upgrade as I can't afford a twin set-up at the moment.
Have a laugh, then tell me I'm dreaming, and all will be as before and no harm done!

Not as easily as getting a carb for an Essex Capri V6 and re-jetting it. THey are made that way and this has been done a few times by Fiat Twin Cam owners.

will the floats be the right way round would have thought you'd need a carb made for transverse engine?

The manifold is oriented so the carb sits longditudinally in the Beta so an under-bonnet comparison will be necessary, but since the Ford item is a twin rather than a progressive choke set-up, I suppose it is possible it sits the right way.
There would be no bargain if you have to fabricate a flange or have the manifold modified.
