My S2 Beta Spider (chassis number 828BS1) was originally fitted with black PVC seats (as I believe most Spiders of that era were). Some years ago I substituted the front seats for a pair of cloth-trimmed seats out of an I.E. Beta. This was after a holiday in the south of France; I vividly remember the sizzle of flesh on superheated black PVC when forgetfully getting into the car without first draping a wet towel over the seat...

At the time I could only afford to buy the front seats - the rear passenger accomodation is still in Black PVC. Does anyone know whether rear Coupe seats are a direct replacement fot the rear Spider seats? I seem to remember not, but I am hopeful.

Failing that, does anyone know a good retrimmer? And is the material still available? Mine is the light blue/grey cloth fitted as standard (I believe) to IE Betas of certain colours.

Rear seats in a coupe have built in headrests IIRC. I don't think they fit the spider.

Hi

I have some S2 F/L PVC Spider rear seats which are ideally in need of recovering if you need them. For my Spider I used a guy in Melton who works for a local trimmer, but also does 'home' work which I found the pricing quite sensible. He has been in the trimming game for some years (I forget how many 25+?). Nice guy to deal with and the job was excellent to my eyes. I had both leather and PVC work done. He is located in Melton Mowbray.

Let me know if you want his number.

Graham

The rear headrests can be removed by unpicking the hog rings and lifting the headrests away. But you will need to neatly plug 2 holes and the cloth under the headrest will be mint and the rest will not. The foam squabs are the same on both Coupe and Spider S2FL.

Thanks for the replies, chaps. On thinking about it, it's probably a better idea to get the originals re-trimmed. At least I know they're going to fit without hassle when I put them back on.

And if I get a spare set and get them re-trimmed, I an just swap them over with minimal disruption. Right; I think I've just convinced myself...

Peter, you have PM...   Cheesy
