Switch, relays and especially earths need checking. My off side low beam regularly packs up and the previous owner advised taking out the fuse and putting it in again. In fact the fault is down to an earth wire that has to be cleaned up fairly regularly. On UK spec cars the high beam only comes on after the low beam?

Well I've isolated the problem to the switch. These cars have an odd system. The 4 headlights have 6 elements. The high beams use a relay but the low beams don't.

Er Yes that would be Lancia saving 50p on a relay resulting in the switch burning out. A common issue on electric window switches, ignition switchs and on the wiper full speed setting (you can have full speed wiper by fitting a relay).

OK, I've got the low beams working. Had to pull the switch assy. pull it apart. clean the contacts ,then put it all back together. That did it!So, on to the next issue.
