Jobs for 2010

Interested to hear what jobs Beta people have planned for 2010!

My next tasks are:
Rebuild the cylinder head to cure a few leaks and replace the valve stem oil seals.
Replace the rear shock absorbers and one of the rear wheel bearings.
Fix the passenger door by doing a bit of welding and rust proofing along the bottom edge.
Replace the electric window 'worms' and lubricate to get the windows moving quicker.
Replace the exhaust downpipe by fabricating a flexi section into a new fixed pipe.

I think it also due a service!!

That should keep me busy, as well as maintaining the TVR........and I wouldn't mind getting my Series III Land Rover MOT'd.

Hope my wife doesn't see this  !

Few things i've got planned:
Get car rolling roaded - Just to see what it's producing for a laugh
Weld hole in the floor
Fit battery in boot
Replace gear linkage bushes
Source and fit adjustable transverse arms
Front polyurethane top mounts
Front adjustable camber kit
Front nearside wheel bearing
Port and polish head with oversized valves and 130tc strada cams
Build bored out block
Maybe for the end of 2010, start welding a roll cage in.
I'm sure i'll blog it all

weld offside sill
refit rear suspension
refit fuel tank
fit new doors
weld front cross member
refit all suspension properly
sort out engine once tank is in decide if need to change for spare one
fit smaller blower pulley
strip to bare metal
find enough cash for a bare metal respray
refit interior and repair drivers seat

plus lots of etc's in between and at the end

Mine should be quite simple but the car's been standing unused for over 6 months!

As far as I know it just needs a new fuel pump, which is waiting on the bench, and fitting a lovely set of reconditioned brake calipers from Bigg Red which are still boxed and in the boot.  MOT should be fine then I'll be ready for the LMC Great Northern Weekend in March.

Easy stuff for me thankfully.....

New front brake pads.
Remove steering wheel and treat with black leather dye.
Tweak windscreen wipers motor setup.
Remove OEM front wheel spacers.
Have tracking checked / adjusted.
Possibly replace gear linkage.
Plus I'm sure a few odds and sods will crop up in 2010.

And the best job of all is to drive and enjoy the car

Well the list could be long..........
for the HPE ,
- tidy up the rusty bits
- touch up underseal
- new gear linkage bushes with quickshift kit
- engine swap with a few mods lol.
- tidy engine bay
- new PU top mounts F & R
- replace brake pipe
- trial brake conversion
Enough for starters i think

then i might get the sills done on the ES Saloon.

Change the oil & fit the new rear cam box gasket (to hopefully sort the mega oil leak) - both scupperred by todays rain, hence on the Forum!!!

Through the summer (if it arrives) I'm hoping to sort some paint jobs, fix the drivers inside door handle, fit the new washer bag and finally sort the sqeak on the clutch pedal (driving me mad for 18 months now but can't see where to put any oil/grease).

Oh and the MOT is due.

I'm doing a cilinderhead overhaul right now Just replaced my fuel and waterpump too.

Should be running again next weekend ^^

Mine should be quite simple but the car's been standing unused for over 6 months!

Ashamed to say my VX has been stood outside since June 2006 after making the 1000 mile round trip to LeMans. I've just moved house
and at long last have a Garage so I've got no excuse now! Plan is to get the car moved the 20 miles to my new house and get cracking.
Things I know that need doing are:

Respray and Put the Sunroof Back in (and hope I've still got all the bits)
Rear Discs/Pads
Replace Rear Shocks

That's all I can think is wrong with it but I'm sure when it goes for its MOT that list will be 4 times longer..

Just a service and more TLC for me.
She passed her mot this morning with nothing to do and only 1 advisory of O/S/R handbrake less effective than the other side.
It was a very thorough mot as well with lots of tapping with his hammer on the sills and chassis.....He found nothing.

I am a very happy man who is now looking forward to the Lancia events.

Would like to find Tan front seats though and fit better speakers........may be a bit more Waxoyl as well.

Fabricate and weld in new metal for boot floor around filler pipe.
A bit of welding and painting around rear wheel arch.
Re-fit repaired and re-sealed fuel tank.
Replace rear suspension springs.

See if the dreaded Volumex fuel feed problems are finally cured!

Possibly replace gear linkage.  Don't think this is necessary just yet.

Just for interest, why are you considering removing the front wheel spacers?

Chris,

Before they were fitted there was no vibration at 70 mph, now there is a little. so after I have taxed the I will retest with/without.

I doubt the nickel plating process affected their weight, but I think maybe they need to be bolted to the hub to stop the vibration.

I need to have my steering centralised (off centre is a pet hate) so will also have the front wheels balance checked again.

Its not a big wobble at 70mph but I'd rather it be spot on perfect

Clearly your road test should reveal all.... in the past I've had a similar issue develop after leaving the car standing for some time; it's true what they say about tyre damage when left for prolonged periods with weight on at the same rotational position.

The tyres I have on the car are new and less than 12 months old.  Before I fitted the spacers everything was fine, no wobble or vibration etc. Then once fitted they suffered a little vibration.  The spacers are OEM, but they are not a tight/exact fit over the centre section of the hub face, there is a little movement in them from left / right once you have one wheel bolt in place. So I think this is where the vibration is coming from.

When I lay my cars up for winter they go up on axle stands if its going to be more than 3 months, saves the wheel bearings in the long run.

What I need to do is bolt the spacer to the hub so that it is fixed centrally in place, if that does not eliminate the vibration then I will try it without the spacers.  (After having the wheel balance checked)

I'd prefer to keep the spacers on TBH as it makes the car handle a little better in my opinion,
