Hello Everyone,

The fixing screws on the distributor cap on my 1600 Spider are positioned under the inlet manifold and under the dynamo support bracket which means that if i want to check points etc i have to unclamp the dizzie and turn it to get access to the screws. I then have to reset the timing.

Are they all like this or has someone replaced the dizzie in the wrong place?

Any help would be appreciated,

Best Regards from Tyneside, Barry

Hi Barry,

You can set the distributor to anywhere you want. First, to avoid any confusion later, set the engine up on TDC, cylinder 4 firing. Then unclamp and lift the dizzy out enough to disengage the spline drive. Then you can rotate the whole dizzy, shaft and body together, to where you want. Drop it back down to engage the splines. Finally, fine-set the timing and clamp it down again.

Cheers R
