Dear All,
As my HPE VX project is coming together nicely for the the "big 40" I wonder if anybody out there has one of the Lancia optional rechargable torches that fitted in the passenger footwell port under the dash? It does not have to work, but if it did I would probably "Cannonise You!"
I know these were rare things, but the interior is now looking so good I would really like to finish things off. I know our hero member "Rossocorsa" said a couple of years ago that he had one (or three??) Can anybody help please?
All the best,
Chas and Anne,
(VXdeMAYO).

Hi Chas, Angelo Here. I was looking for the same thing to a while ago. Tried omincrom, Nope, Lancia SA Nope, ebay global Nope, germany/france distributers nope, then by shear luck I found two new ones in Australia of all places. "there is a god!!". ones in my beta and other in my brother beta. sorry no spares. if I find another I will let you know. Angelom
PS: Did the boss kit fit?  that Lancia horn badge is a treat isnt it.

Hi

I don't have any spares left there was one on ebay very recently best to keep looking on there ideally set up some saved searches with email alerts or use the ebay android app set up things like 'lancia torch' and translations in italian, french and german setting search to worldwide

AFAIK these torches were only fitted to first series berlinas I was lucky in that the local Lancia dealer saved them out of all the series one cars that went for scrap during the infamous rust scandal and when they closed down (quite some years ago now!) I acquired several they also fit the socket in fulvia and flavia/2000

Not really a hero member just too much time to waste and too big an anorak....

Alan

Thanks for the advise Alan, I will do just that.

Angelo, thank you for looking and yes the steering boss does fit the wheel, (very nice), and yes the horn push is lovely. I have yet to fit the wheel to the steering column. (It's raining outside and I don't want to get "Lulu" wet!) That's the car, --- not my wife! Grin
PS: have you got your parcel yet?
Best,
Chas.

Just some info on torches, I found that I have two UK issued Berlina brochures one issued in 73 the other in 74, in the 73 brochure the torch is mentioned as standard on 1600/1800 on 74 version all mention is deleted (on otherwise identical brochure) so I guess a cost cutting measure along with a few other details on s1 cars and prior to the start of coupe production in 74 which explains why coupes never had them.

possibly an optional item? I take it the car was bought in SA(?) as 1800 wasn't sold in UK? I thought socket on rhd was on passenger side?

just checked the parts book and indeed coupe spider and hpe show the torch it does appear that it was deleted from late series 1 cars in the uk as there it's no other reason to alter the brochure. part numbers are torch 82305936 bulb 82305938

I think I am probably thinking about s2fl cars re the socket position I think you are right on early cars and probably all berlinas socket under/near steering wheel

interesting I didn't realise that the spec was different in Ireland that's why I guessed at south Africa, the spider was also 1600 only until s2 in uk

I have two (!) torches.
One for my Fulvia 3 (the socket is fitted under the dash near the steering wheel). This torch was a friend’s present.

Another for my 1978 Spider (the socket is fitted under the glove box). This torch was found in a wreck. Everything was destroyed, but the torch was waiting there for me right in its place!

Dear Trevidash, I know I started this thread a while ago but if that is an offer to me I would be very grateful. I do not mind if it is in bits as I could repair it as long as everything is still there.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best,
Chas and Anne. Grin Grin

If its in bits photos would be handy to see how it is meant to come apart. I'm too wary of breaking mine when the disassembly route is not very obvious

I have one in pieces somewhere, I wanted to see if there is a modern battery that could replace the original.... It's overly complicated for such a simple device.
