This is a slightly academic question because , happily, the engine is all together and is pulling like a train.

At the last rebuild the work was done by a garage that specialised in fiats and alfas and as far as I can see they did a fine job.

How do you tell by inspection which of the cams is the inlet and which the exhaust? And just to pre-empt the obvious - yes I know the one near the front is the inlet.  Grin

Is there actually any difference between them in construction? Or is it possible to re-build incorrectly with them in the opposite locations. Or did that nice Signor Lampredi avoid the issue by having the standard ones identical?

Enquiring minds need to know.
