How hard is it to find a servicable 1.3 Beta engine? A newbie here in Ireland in our club has contacted me looking for one and says it must be a 1.3. As a youngster with an interest in cars, I don't ever remember seeing anything on Irish roads smaller than a 1.6 and even they were rarer than the biger options. There are certainly none in the club and the few others I know of are all 2.0 models. Is he wasting his time or does anyone here have one or a source I could pass along?

He should snap it up if it's a good one and it's definatly what he wants. There are only single figures of these cars left in the UK.

He never said but I've sent him a message and I asked the same question. Maybe he's doing a concours or maybe he wants it for some custom project like an X1/9?

Good afternoon to all,
If you are still interested I own a 1,3ltr engine complete with gearbox in very good condition. The only problem is that I am located in Athens Greece. If you wish to get more details send me an email and I can manage to send you photos as well.

Or maybe for insurance purposes?
He is a "Youngster" so a 1300 may be cheaper or the only CC engine they would cover with him due to his age?

It's not the first time someone has joined our on line forum here in ireland, asked a question and never bothered to come back to see if there were any answers. I'm looking to get the posting rules changed so only active members with a minimum number of posts can avail of the "for sale" or "wanted" sections which really don't exist yet in any specific section. We tend to get an introduction followed by a request for information or parts or even an offer of some Lancia-related item all in the one post and I'm usually stupid enough to waste my time and everyone else's trying to source an item or some information which never gets followed-up on. Anyway, I shan't be doing it again in a houur. Thanks as always for the helpful replies and sorry for apparently wasting your time.

To be honest, with the classic policies available to us in this little isle, you'd only pay a loading if you were insuring something like a Thema 8-32 or other exotica. Most things over twenty years old can be insured for less than €200 fully comp regardless of engine size and my own policy allows me to add up to ten additional vehicles at a cost of €6 per vehicle once they stay within a selected total annual milage determined by the policy holder at the time of renewal. It's about the only thing in this leeching economy here that is reasonable, but God knows, something has to be!

I'd wondered whether it was for racing and he needed to be in an under 1300 category

Don't know what the weather's like where you live, but in the Midlands of Ireland, it's usually rain between showers. I sometimes wonder why I picked a spyder as my Lancia choice, then the sun shines for a few hours, the roof comes off and all becomes clear as the little Engine That Can reaches operating temp and I stand on the throttle hoping there are no speed cameras en route. Better weather and I WOULD get out more! (and collect LOADS of points on my licence)
