Hey guys, probably been answered times before, but I will be needing to replace the struts/inserts on my '77 Coupe. It's an 828 BC1 and looks to have sealed front struts (original, can still see Lancia stamped on the outside) and the rears look to have a removable gland nut on top, again, original with the Lancia stamp.
What's the best way to tackle some replacements?
Cheers, Scott

Scott,

Rear damper inserts are readily available from KYB so that's a simple swap over old for new, but the fronts will be your challenge.

Unless you can find a pair of front strut bodies that take inserts rather than the sealed versions you have you'll have to go the following route.

Buy the strut conversion kit from Mark Wastnidge, cut the tops off the sealed units and then weld on the converters. Mark also sells front KYB dampers that have been adapted to fit the Beta fronts.

Thanks Matt, knew I could count on you guys for an informed response!
I see Mark's site is shut at the moment, I want to order a set of bushes for my coupe also so will have a look at his strut options when it's up and running again.
Do you know the KYB part number for the rear dampers?

Here you go Scott.....

The KYB catalogue is available to download as a PDF.

You have to be careful because they list what cars the fronts are available for in picture format only (little car images in left hand column), so only front dampers available for Sedan/Berlina - hence Mark finding an alternative.

Guys, where do you obtain the lower front ball joints from? Lancia Parts SA list them but only have one available, are they shared with any other makes or models?

Scott,

These I usually source from Italy or germany via eBay.

Expect to pay £25 - £30 for each side.

Occasionally you can find them a little cheaper but not by much.

Hi,

I'm looking too for the four insert, I'have chance to deal with French Members of the ICC,
and I find the 4 strut to receive 4 Insert.

I'v found Kayab in a Belgian Garage,  But for the front, I find that the insert of the golf had near characterictics of our damper...

As I say in this post :

http://www.italian-cars-club.com/italian-cars-club-forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=20459&hilit=amortisseur+beta&start=40#p429914

But have any tempted the solution for that?

Another question, the Betapart mention Spax Insert,  but where they found them? the Spax catalog did'not mention no more insert for the beta?

Thank's for your answer..

Nota : what is the best price for 4 insert in England? For a Coupé..

Hi Eric,

As tu la possibilité de nous indiquer les dimensions des cartouches?
et notamment pour les ammortisseurs avant Kayaba de berline de la course des dimensions du corps , afin de savoir si elles sont transformable en cartouche de Coupé?

Merci pour ton retour.
