Windscreen Washer Pump

Hi Everyone
I have a 1979 beta spyder and the washer screen fluid reservoir is the original one located next to the battery
Where the pump was fitted had a load of silicone around it - is the washer jet motor meant to just push into the hole without any kind of washer ?
Does anyone have any pictures of what the original looks like as i wanted to see if I am missing anything.
When I push washer jet motor in it is not a tight fit and feels like there is some kind of washer misisng..
Any help would be appreciated.
