anyone know the dimensions etc off hand decided to do a bit of research on this part and it's about 100 times more confusing than I expected for instance monte tensioner appears to be different as do most similarly engined Fiats. sizes i've come across are 67x26x34 (beta 1.3/1.6) 70x28x28 monte carlo and fiat argenta amongst others 70.5x28x28 same as previous 56x29x29 argenta 1.6 and so on........why is ANYTHING Lancia never simple??

there also seems to be a question mark as, at least on early cars, the bearing was separate from the pulley I'm not sure how aftermarket suppliers list complete or bearing only from what I can tell bearing only is SKF vkm12004 (Huh?)

Certainly on both my 2.0 spiders (1978) the bearing fits inside the tensioner pulley, it's retained by a circlip. So if your's is the same read on.

The spare bearing I've got is a 5205-2RS. The 2-RS bit means 2 rubber seals, the 05 is the bore size in 5mm steps (ie it's 5x5mm=25mm bore), the 2 means (IIRC) medium duty and the first 5 means it's a double row angular contact bearing. The odd thing is that it's a mixed units bearing - 25mm bore 52mm O/D and 13/16" wide (20.6mm)

The good news is that any bearing factor will be able to sell you a 5205-2RS. Ask for a decent make such as SKF, RHP or FAG.

cheers that looks useful!! as far as I can tell most twin cams seem to use the same inner bearing but a different outer pulley so this should do the business, although I haven't checked what's on the car yet just forward thinking to when the petrol tank is back on fuel pipes replaced and the idea of firing it up is reality!

A bit more reserch revealed a few options within options so to speak... SKF have a redesigned series called 'explorer' which would seem ideal for a high worry application like this 3 variations

5205 a-2rs1 straightforward variation but I can't 100% work out the difference between '3' and'5' in the designation
3205 a-2rs1/mt33 which is filled with lithium thickened grease -30 to +120 heat range
3205 a-2rs1tn9/mt33 as above with an injection moulded polyamide bearing cage

they are not the cheapest but look the best options any observations??

For most purposes a 3205A and a 5205A are interchangeable. In theory a 5205 should have a different grease with a higher operating temperature (+140 vs +120). In practice most especially the cheapos will be the same. There's also a 5205-E that is heavier duty but it's designed to be regreased periodically so don't get one of those.


That 3205 you've found there will be fine. for all the letters after the bearing the 3205A2RS1TN9MT33 is actually their standard offering whether 'explorer' class or not !

If you do call your local factor bear in mind that typical trade discoung is 60-70% off list price so you should be able to get 50%

a bit of further surfing on the 'net found a discussion on a Lamborghini forum about the Urracco which apparently used the same bearing size. The conclusion was the best spec. was the 3205 A-2RS1TN9/MT33 the reason being that the polyamide cage had a certain amount of safety margin in it as it would run without grease for a short period before seizure squealing it's head off whereas other specs would seize much faster

also I found that in some SKF information it states that 'bearings in the 32 A and 33 A series are identical with those in the 52 A and53 A series for the North American market' so there you go!!

also the higher temp grease would not apply to any rubber sealed bearing as the seals cannot tolerate in excess of 120c
