Hi All
Another in what us likely to be a boring set of questions now I am starting to get my ducks lined up to install the interior.
The parts manual from what I can see does not show a breakdown of the seat belt arrangement of the fixing bolts/spacers/washers.
I have sorted the upper bolt, but cannot see how the two in the centre just behind the front seats goes as I have
Bolt Spring washer Spacer with turn down Plastic washer Metal cover plate which goes over the metal loop that the bolt goes through at the end of the seat belt clip.
I cannot work out where the spacer fits....
Also is there a plastic or other cover for these two bolts heads when installed?

Hi Peter,
The stepped spacer allows the buckle to remain mobile,and the spring washer stops the buckle from flopping around i.e. it should fit over the smaller step.
The spacer is fitted wide side to body,then the spring washer,then the buckle,then the plastic washer,then the bolt. Yes, there is normally a plastic cap which clicks on to the buckle,it moves with it.
If you find carpet thickness an issue, an extra washer on the body is fine.
The same arrangment is used on the B pillar. The belt drum itself should be fixed tight,usually with a dog-type thingy to stop it rotating.

I seem to recall that they are a plastic domed fitment which clips over the bolt head, and either gets lost or cracked fairly early on in its life. I'm sure somewhere like Essentra Components would have something to suit, if you can find it in theire enormous catalogue. Hi Peter
I bought new nut covers from the SL Shop as my many OE covers split one after another when I did a recent test fit of my new after market belts. They were cheap enough not to bother find more old ones for me.

And following on from this, assuming above is correct, on the other two locations (top and bottom of the B pillar) for the seat belt there are similar bolts, stepped spacers and spring washers, but on both the upper and lower fixings, should there also be a fairly thick washer just under the bolt head, or is that just on the upper B post fixing?

Peter, I admit i'd not realise it was this type, and in this case the steel-hoop ends do not move, but I think with the spacer they slightly 'float' above the carpet, but should be tight to the body. If you have other non-stepped spacers,these would be for here,steps here are not needed. As my description above, the stepped parts are more likely for the B pillar fitment.
If the spring washer is bolt-size,then I would use that under the bolt head. My thoughts earlier were that you were referring to a thin wavy washer, but that would also be for the B pillar attachment.
Edit: Have you got thin wavy washers?

Ok, I think you are correct in that the stepped spacer is not required here, and in fact no spacer is actually required and the nut in the floor is actually raised which with the hoop ends and the metal cover piece will make a secure fixing. That now makes sense as I thought I was short of the stepped spacers. I do have a few of the wavy washers (one shown above next to stepped spacer) which fit on the stepped spacer. What I appear to only have two of, are the thick washers, but I should be able to use normal washers instead. So I think I am sorted on this issue.... Thanks for your time.

Try to get the parts book view for the sequence and parts as these are seat belts.

There is the rub, the parts book is great for pretty much everything EXCEPT the seat belts where the picture just has one number and it says seat belts, no breakdown or parts explosion of any fixings at all, that I can see. Hence my question here.

A bit of an update. I offered up the metal hoops to the fixings in the floor, but it just sits on top of the fixing as it is wider than the hole in the hoop, so still wondering if the stepped spacer needs to be used....? If anyone has this early system it would be good to get some feedback on how it fits to the floor.

Hi Peter
With these I would go for a solid anchor with a bolt long enough to fully engage the body threads with a spring washer then thick load washer wide enough to cover the loop steel of the seat belt retainer. Spray the washers black add nut covers and onto the next job. The top belt fixings and sill fixing will be designed to fit with the belt fixing able to pivot whilst soundly located. I have just done this using new front and rear belts to ensure I have the right combination of bolts and washers took some time and if I had any doubt about the OE threads I used longer bolts and half nuts on the rear.
The SL shop sell new Black nut covers. Mine just split one after another!
