Beta Fans

After a lot of sorting through wiring looms (9 of them) and driving 150 miles I am sending a RHD wiring loom pattern to AutoSparks for a Quote to make a copy. This is for my VX Beta Spider but could be a big help to other owners doing a restoration with blackened and corroded earthing, burnt connectors, bypass wires and scotch locks. The main cabin loom is from a VX so has illuminated switch wiring blocks. The rear transfer looms are from a Coupe but they are the same for an HPE except the extra length. The engine bay looms are S2FL and do not include the IE or VX specific Loom extensions. They stop at the connector for the Bosch ignition Pack loom on S2FL. The boot loom is for a Beta Spider, but the conversion to HPE or Coupe is relatively few wires that could be made up on the sofa at home. The Electric Window loom is included.

I have not modified the original design with additional relays for the wipers and electric windows so that will be down to individual owners
I will update you on the cost as I have asked what the impact of 5, 10 or 15 orders would be.

I could do with something like that but I rather suspect it'll be out of my budget, original beta wiring is really getting a bit ropey on the majority of cars

Guys

Sorry but Autosparks say no as they cannot get a number of the connectors and the bulkhead grommets and are not happy doing a shabby job with second hand parts. It looks like I will be making my own!!

Worth checking the long set of posts by 'The Cern' about his Aurelia rebuild on the LMC Forum. He replicated his (much simpler) loom but his method might work for you?

Hi Eric,

I was thinking about replacing (or re-making) the engine bay loom on my S2FL Spider when I eventually get round to refurbishing the engine. Is the engine bay loom a self-contained unit , or do you need to splice into the main loom? In an ideal world wiring looms would be modular, so you can replace just one section; your earlier post indicates this might be the case. Can you confirm or deny this?

The engine bay looms are modular left and right with significant variation by model. They are the bits most often ruined. Making them is not difficult just slow and boring copying.

Thanks Eric. While the engine bay is sans engine would be the obvious time to do this. Replacing old and, as you say, potentially damaged loom sections with new higher-rated thinwall cable and new connectors would seem to be a smart thing to do. But boring and rather time consuming, I suspect.
