Title: hid headlights Post by: blazer_one on April 03, 2010, 08:29:52 AM Hi to one and all.
i was wondering if anyone has done the hid headlight conversion i have seen the kits on ebay at £68.00 and was thinking about giving it a go. also i am nearing completion on the resto on my vx coupe and will plan to show it at the dalemain show which i think is on in july. last year there was a good few betas there. is anyone going as if i would like to book a space cheers simon Title: Re: hid headlights Post by: rossocorsa on April 03, 2010, 08:53:46 AM not done it they are not strictly legal so it's not something I'd personally consider, if you do go for it make sure you get a nice white colour temp some are very chavvy designed for show rather than function I think between 4300 to 6000k is the brightest and most white light most OE is around these figures

also the car show i was talking about is dalemain house in penrith cumbria and is well worth a visit. Title: Re: hid headlights Post by: rossocorsa on April 03, 2010, 09:54:34 AM they are not legal because they are not type approved. On OE fitments the cars must have headlight washers and self levelling to alleviate potential dazzle due to dirt causing light scatter or flashing up on bumpy roads, a HPE would be half way there with its self level system and they did offer headlamp wash as an option in some countries on Betas believe it or not but that would be a step too far. If you did fit them you'd actually probably get away with it but the standard reflectors in beta headlights aren't really designed for this type of bulb. My MG ZT has HID lights and I have to agree that they give excellent light much more like daylight than halogen

What about a projector style headlight? (http://www.octanemotorsports.com/images/OGI-RSD-100305A-CCFL.jpg) You'll get a better control of the beam. |
