Title: Intake ports and valves.... Post by: hongkongphooey on February 17, 2010, 10:58:35 PM As a matter of interest,how finished are the standard intake ports in the head,and do the valves have slightly wasted stems?

The port finish is a cast finish with a line (casting mark ) running through the centre line of the port where the sand cast forms meet. Are the valve guides still protruding through into the port? Do you have a pic? I'll see if I can take a pic of a std head.

Yeah that sounds about like mine....the ports however don't have any casting lines,just fine circular lines that look like they have been made by a flap wheel or something. Have a look at Guy Croft Racing Engines website there are lots of pictures of tuned and ported components so you will be able to spot 3 angle valve seats and real performance cams.
