I'll be taking my recentley purchaced Prisma, as I've taken the Beta off the road for a couple of months. lot's of bodywork/welding needed. cheers Tony Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: HFStuart on June 01, 2010, 09:57:56 PM I'll be there in the 406 - They've allowed the 406 Coupe OC some spaces to exhibit too - it seems Phil Ward is a fan of them !
PS Don't forget the liners ! Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on June 01, 2010, 10:24:36 PM thanks for the reminder Stuart
Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: rossocorsa on June 01, 2010, 11:20:10 PM Blimey £10 per person entry an even bigger rip than previous years! If you take out all the displays paid for by owners shelling out for their own fuel and owners clubs supporting that doesn't leave a lot that can be called 'value for money' does it? Anyway I'm still going to be there but Lancia-less as usual

At least the 406 Coupe was built in Italy - which is more than can be said for some Fiats that will be there! Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: WestonE on June 02, 2010, 02:06:09 PM Chaps/ Boyz or whatever
I will be there in a black Montecarlo which I know is not really a Beta more of an overgrown X19, but the FI VX Spider is long term work in progress. Eric Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: thecolonel on June 02, 2010, 07:39:23 PM Hurumph, I may well attend, providing, of course, I remember where I left the car
Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on June 02, 2010, 08:57:48 PM Mark Wastnidge will be attending in a SKODA Fabia ???

So we've got a gamma (possibly), montecarlo, prisma, hf turbo, skoda and another manufacture; looks like its guna be a good turn out of beta's! :D Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: rossocorsa on June 02, 2010, 10:55:58 PM Should be going, probably going to be the turbo again as every other car event for the year i'll be in the HPE :) (hopefully) I'm getting a free lift in Steve Thompsons VX so at least one BetaSo we've got a gamma (possibly), montecarlo, prisma, hf turbo, skoda and another manufacture; looks like its guna be a good turn out of beta's! :D Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on June 03, 2010, 06:14:45 AM John Bower will be going

Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: HFStuart on June 03, 2010, 02:45:37 PM What for?
Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: thecolonel on June 03, 2010, 10:49:38 PM Quote > What for? < unquote
Ah, a quiz, ok, my answer is: Fish Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: HFStuart on June 04, 2010, 04:46:13 PM Nah, if he wanted fish he'd go to Sainsburys like the rest of us.
The motives of fishermen are very obscure, I'd always thought fish were an entirley peripheral consideration. Back on topic: I just found out that Phil Ward has put the 406s in the concourse area between prototyes and supercars, I hope mine doesn't come over all self concious :) Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: thecolonel on June 04, 2010, 07:30:42 PM Having now found the car in a pub carpark, I'm giving it a miss,
I shall be heading for the CanAm show in Poole they have a bar and, no that's it really. chin chin Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: lanciamad on June 06, 2010, 08:32:16 PM Had a good day, nice to catch up with some people and put a few more names to faces.
The occasional shower didn't put a dampner on the day, the £50 it cost in fuel and entry did a bit though; one I might miss out next year. For those that don't know, I took my hf turbo along and it didn't dis-appoint, didn't miss a beat there and back, had a bit more fun on the way home on damp roundabouts etc... the grip is excellent. When the turbo kicks in second going round roundabouts, there's a mixture of grip, wheel spin, torque steer and a bit of lift-off oversteer if you fancy it, great fun. Back to putting the HPE back together this week, next saturday it might actually be used! ;D My pic's of the day: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lanciamad/sets/72157624217016852/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lanciamad/sets/72157624217016852/) Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: thecolonel on June 07, 2010, 11:44:58 PM few of us at the Can-Am show, Poole
Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on June 08, 2010, 10:23:36 PM As Marcus said, we had a good turn out of Beta's and the weather was not too bad. Congratulations go to James Weddell in his HPE VX for winning best Lancia of show (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4680473310_b8c4bdb66b.jpg) (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4047/4680335978_cb0477b76a.jpg) see the rest of my photo set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonysphotos/sets/72157624217205006/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonysphotos/sets/72157624217205006/) My Prisma made the 220 mile round trip with no problem but I sadly did not experience the "in second going round roundabouts, there's a mixture of grip, wheel spin, torque steer and a bit of lift-off oversteer " :D I did miss the Beta on the way home, Eric W flew passed me in his highly tuned Monte and all I could do was wave bye ;) Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: lanciamad on June 08, 2010, 10:44:41 PM Quote I sadly did not experience the "in second going round roundabouts, there's a mixture of grip, wheel spin, torque steer and a bit of lift-off oversteer " Fail! I'm sure some lowering springs and a turbo would sort that out ;D To be fair the HPE does the same with some enthusiastic driving ;) minus a whooosh and a tsssssssssss; something to doing with the right pedal i'm told.Title: Re: Auto Italia Stanford Hall June 6th Post by: WestonE on June 09, 2010, 05:57:28 PM Tony
You were of couse top company as usual and I did notice you bouncing in the seat Kart style for extra power on that short bit of dual carrage way on the A5. With no turbo I missed out on the woooosh and tsssssssssss and the torque steer and wheel spin. When a Monte runs out of grip it goes into a flickable 4 wheel slide or with clumsy throttle ends up facing in the wrong direction! It was definately more fun on the way there. I loved the drive along the A43 Silverstone road on a slide in accelerate out basis I passed hoards of MGs and a pair of highly tuned Mk2 Escorts proving the worth of Lancia's fantastic suspension designs. It was great to meet Marcus I am so impressed with his Beta HPE racing project. I was a shame I did not manage to get you talking to John Day I know you would have found it very useful after his years of racing a Beta Coupe. Good to meet so many people and sorry if we did not talk. Eric |
