Title: Tips for fitting rear tie rod poly bushes (from Betaboyz)
Post by: lancialulu on January 17, 2025, 06:47:34 PM
Any tips out there for fitting the one piece into the adjustable eyes of a rear tie rods.

I have a press but the bush distorts before sliding in.

I have tried a jubilee clip to try and control flange of the poly bush but no joy.

I did all mine by hand Tim. Obviously without the steel inserts in place. Just a bit of silicone grease and started with the bush at an angle to the eye. Slippery work with the grease but all went in easily enough. Once the lip is in the eye it just slides through very easily and once in place fully the steel insert pops into place.

Blinding glimpse of the obvious I should have noted the the empty eyes still had the outer shell of the old rubber bush. I had to press these out (one took 7 Tonnes to push out) and the it was plain sailing. All 4 done in 5 minutes. I had inherited the track rod ends beautifully painted so thought that was how the come.....

Ah. Took mine to Geoffs workshop to have them pressed out. It took a lot of pressure to remove all 8 (in two batches). I've got a pair of unadjustable ones with the Betaboyz bushes fitted but they aren't as nice/strong looking as the adjustable variety.
