Title: Curious suspension part in U.K. Post by: peteracs on January 05, 2025, 02:23:31 PM Hi All
Whilst sorting out strut parts for rebuilding my struts, I came across these hard plastic spring supports which fit on the front struts (completely different to the rear ones which are normally found). This reminded me of the post from a while ago here http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5162.0 (http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5162.0) I have no idea which set of struts they came from and have measured the two sets of front springs which are the normal 391mm high uncompressed as per previous posts. So I had a quick look in the old paper parts book, no mention, just the normal thin rubber supports on the front, however on the pdf posted on here for the up to 1984 cars the front struts have this hard plastic support as well as the normal rubber as well as differing springs but only for the Australian market. I have therefore no idea how I managed the acquire a pair. Nigel, would be interested if your Aus car had these when you changed the struts? I have no recollection of what was there. When the weather improves I'll take a look underneath. Cheers, Nigel Title: Re: Curious suspension part in U.K. Post by: lancialulu on January 05, 2025, 08:03:58 PM I have a pair too (one cracked) is spares from a scrapped HPE VX.... Interestingly I think they came from the IE Coupe, so wonder if they used them on later cars? Though with standard length springs, maybe the extra engine weight needed this extra 1cm height? Peter |
